Jesus tells us to abide in him. To abide is not a passive reality but to stick with, hold on to, obey. He is saying this in the midst of the Last Supper, where he institutes the Eucharist and tells the apostles to do the same. For us to abide in Jesus is to hold on to the celebration of the Eucharist. And to do so is to hold on to the whole of the Mass.
