It's finally June! Teachers rejoice! Today's topic is about voter suppression currently, and in the past.

Today is the Centennial of the Tulsa Massacre. Today we are talking Black Wall Street, what it meant then, and what it means now.  Power to the ancestors who were murdered on that day. May their souls rest in paradise and their strength guide those of us left to mourn them. 

This week, my dad joins me again to discuss redlining and housing covenants in the country, as well as the history of the practice in San Diego. California has a long history of racist housing practices, continuing into the 1980s, in "diverse" areas like the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. 

As it relates to PPP loan fraud, government crack down and pursuit, and celebreality personalities.

The history of racial caricatures and negative promotion of Black imagery is global, but we are primarily focusing on the United States. Caricatures are stereotype tropes that are perpetuated in media (cartoons, advertising, films, music, etc.) that are meant to demean a group of people. 

Children were stolen from China to be enslaved in the Americas, children are used today in fields as agricultural labor. This is about the history of childhood as a social and state construct, and where our society still fails children (particular children of color); historically and presently.  Reminder that children are still locked up in substandard immigration jails.  Clean episode,...

College and university applications are on the rise, but the acceptance rate is on the decline. For some reason, students are not choosing to enroll in local community colleges... make it make sense?

I forgot to add that a big issue I take with the Offred leading the charge against everyone hating Ofmatthew, the Black handmaid, is because at no point does anyone call Offred out for her treatment of Ofmatthew. Nobody challenges Offred for this mistreatment, nor call out that she clearly does the opposite for the white handmaid, Ofwarren/Janine. Many of us have been treated like that in real lif...

Reconstruction only lasted 12 years (1865-1877), and in this podcast we analyze why that was. Hint: freedom is not the same as liberty. Black Codes not only limited the liberties and freedoms of Black citizens, but also White citizens. The North is really no morally better than the South, and the same goes for the West. The Civil War was fought from 1861-1865, and while the North won the war, the South won the social war. They were able to maintain (federally illegal) racist legislation to its 'free' Black citizens; a legacy that has roots in the issues of today.
