Scripture is not a mismatch of stories about morality; it is one grand story of God’s royal grace. And Jesus tells the story of the Bible as a kingdom story. “The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand” (Mark 1:15).

Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at something that doesn’t really matter. Jesus command to "seek first the kingdom of God".

The story of the shepherds and Mary show us how to respond the good news that a Savior has come.

Jesus came as a King to overthrow our little kingdoms. We are not the rulers and our lives make sense when we know our place and Jesus' place.

Immanuel means Jesus is fully God, he is fully human and he is fully with us.

Christmas is more than just a baby being born, it is the coming of a King to rescue his people.

We know it is Christmas when the lights start to go up on houses and trees. What does the light really mean?

Jesus does not move on from the commands of justice from the Old Testament. He echos the same call and shows us the path for justice and mercy.

Doing justice is an important part of living the Christian life in the world. The question is how to practically answer this call today.

We are called to love our neighbor with all the strength, intensity and generosity that we would use to help ourselves.

God is just and has a heart for those that are overlooked, pushed down, and at an economic and social disadvantage. Christians should seek to help and be the voice of those without a voice.

Sometimes we miss the grace of God because it comes in packages of suffering and discipline.

Grace is about transformation not behavior modification.

Grace should lead Christians to find the most pleasure in life and discovery the greatest joy.

There is a difference between deep and profound. One is intellectual and detached and the other is life changing. Discover the profound grace of Jesus.

Grace is a gift we continually need, through our entire lives of faith.

This was the message during our 10th anniversary celebration.

Our culture says "follow your heart". It sounds so romantic and freeing, but is it really wise advice?

Our cultural use the defense mechanism, "Don't judge me" to mean that someone can never tell another person what is right and wrong. But is that really what Jesus commanded or how he intended us to understand his words?

What we see in the New Testament church is that they were completely dependent upon the power of the Holy Spirit. It wasn’t about the show. It wasn’t about the performance. It was the power of the Holy Spirit. That was the only way to explain it.

The promise of the Holy Spirit is a promise of true life. He is our promised Advocate, filling our lives permanently with His presence and unleashing us to live out of the promises of God.

The Holy Spirit has personhood and we can have a relationship with this person.

We often don’t understand the full significance of a story until we get to the end. That’s certainly true in the book of Ruth, as Ruth’s redemption is put in the larger framework of God’s redemptive purposes. In Ruth 4, we see how Ruth’s redemption looks forward to King David and the Redeemer who would come from David’s line.

Ruth boldly approaches Boaz on the threshing floor and asks for his redemption; Boaz sends Ruth back from the threshing floor with an abundance of barley indicating his intention to act toward her redemption.

Ruth meets Boaz and begins to find provision and hope for a brighter future. God’s sovereign hand of blessing is seen in the way Ruth is treated.
