Jesus shows how the Christ is not only David's Son but also his Lord. This reveals the Scribes' inconsistent views on Scripture and small view of God's Promised King. David's Son being his Lord only makes sense in Jesus, who is greater than we can comprehend!

If we don't understand who we are and what our purpose is, then when things go bad in our culture we won't be able to stand firm in the true grace of God.

Jesus teaches that the greatest commandment is to love the LORD our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and the second is to love our neighbours as ourselves. These two commandments hang together and centre on God and His love for us.

The Sadducees come to trap Jesus on the question of the resurrection, but Jesus reveals they don't know God's word and they don't know God's power. While the issues that come to the surface for us may be similar or different, they stem from the same place. Do we know what God has said and what God can do? Jesus calls us to take God at his word and put our trust in him - the Almighty one.

The Pharisees and Herodians joined together in trying to catch Jesus out with a question all about taxes. Come along and hear how Jesus made them marvel with a coin and words about image, imprint and God.

Today, Campbell will be helping us see what it means to grow in Christ. Does trusting put an end to trying in the Christian life?

This week we see Jesus begin to speak to the people in parables. Parables are earthly stories with heavenly meanings. We hear about a vineyard, the Owner, the servants, His Son and the tenants. But there’s more to this story than what’s on the surface. There’s a deeper meaning. A Kingdom meaning. Jesus tells this story to teach us about God, about the people of Jesus’ day and about us. Rob Cox will be taking us through the final week with Jesus as He sets His face toward the cross. Jesus is preparing His disciples for the new role He knew they were about to enter into. He performs two destructive acts (Jesus never ceases to provide the unexpected!), with the underlying message being to Have Faith in God.

Jesus is the King in David's line, who shows mercy to those in need. Jesus called the blind beggar Bartimaeus and kindly gave him sight. The final section of Mark shows that Jesus, who died, truly came back to life again. Since Jesus is the only person to have ever done this, exactly as He and the Bible said would happen, we must listen to Jesus. His power over life and death is awesome! Jesus was forsaken by humanity, forsaken by God, and forsaken to forgive. Through Jesus bearing God's judgement in our place we can be forgiven. Don't be forsaken, rather trust Jesus who was forsaken for us and be forgiven.

What king of peace enters a city on a donkey knowing he is to proceed to wear a crown of thorns and carry a cross? A better, gentler and more loving King than we could ever dare imagine.

In this week's passage, we see how in contrast to the disciples' (and often our own way) of viewing greatness, true greatness is found in service and the ultimate service is the ransom paid by Jesus. Listen to how the cross is both the worst act of human evil ever and the most amazing act of God's love.

We lock our doors and insure our homes and contents and incomes and lives because we know that life is not safe, that unseen dangers lurk in the shadows that can pounce when we least expect it. Many people think that this life is all we get and that it's really all about the here and now. Jesus, in today's passage, shows that there is more to life than that. There is the life to come. See how true greatness is found in service, how the little ones are so important in the kingdom, how our sin is serious and our God is gracious.

On top of the Mountain, Jesus' appearance was changed so that He shone blazingly brightly. Elijah and Moses appeared and Peter, James and John saw Jesus' glory. Peter spoke without knowing what to say, because they were terrified. The bright cloud overshadowed them and the voice of God spoke.
