High Noon

Aside from the NFL, it was also an eventful weekend in college basketball. A Kobe Brownless Mizzou team took a beating at the hands of the Crimson Tide. However, SLU had a little bit better luck. Kelvin Sampson's #1 Houston Cougars lost a stunner to unranked Temple on their home court.

It's an eventful opening segment on High Noon this week. The cards were out over the weekend! Spades, Hearts, Texas Hold 'Em, Bunco, Left Right Center, what's your game of choice? Women are gamblers just the same as men! College and hometown bars are either nice and wholesome or grungy with sticky floors. Oh, and there were some pretty significant NFL games over the weekend.

Alaric The Barbarian discusses Youth Sports & Athletic Culture 1-19-23

Brandon Lang makes his regular Thursday appearance on High Noon to help us handicap the upcoming weekend of the NFL postseason.

Frank Cammisano is the Director of the Mokan NFL Flag Football league in St. Louis, and he joins the show to discuss youth sports in the St. Louis area. One particular topic he touches on is how the sport of football is being perceived by the parents of young children in modern day America. Hey! The Blues play tonight! And they play at 7 PM! The Blues welcome in the Nashville Predators, and Max Herz from the Predators radio network joins the show to give us a little insight on the Preds.

Despite exhibiting many flaws throughout the game, Mizzou powered through to defeat the Razorbacks in front of a rocking crowd. Dennis Gates is giving Tigers fans a reason to show up again.

Nate chronicles the history of Paul DeJong within the Cardinals organization and how he became a big time player. Nate also reveals the reason as to why fans are more harsh toward DeJong than the media. Cole thinks the discussions that are being had about potential trades for the Cardinals need an upgrade. Youth sports equipment is EXPENSIVE. Parents are making their kids specialize in one sport....

High Noon ends with a bang as Nate takes it to the sports media for their treatment of Philadelphia Flyer Ivan Provorov. Provorov opted out of putting rainbow colored tape on his stick for a pre-planned Pride Night that the team was involved in. Provorov cited religion as his reasoning for not partaking in Pride Night, and the sports media was having none of it.

Bob Holt has been with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette since 1981, and he brings his Razorback knowledge to High Noon to help us get prepared for their rematch with Mizzou this evening in Columbia.

Howard Balzer makes his weekly appearance on High Noon on a Wednesday this week instead of a Monday! Howard offers his insight on the Cardinals hiring a new general manager and how that indicates who they may be trying to hire at head coach. H also thinks one team has a really good opportunity for an upset next weekend.

Matt Schumacker is a native St. Louisan and a longtime friend of Nate's. Matt's had a lot of success as his career has now led him to a role of television play-by-play for college basketball on FS1 and the Big Ten Network. Nate tells a great story of how he recently stumbled upon Matt on television, and Matt offers his insight on college hoops.

The Billikens are in Chicago to face the Ramblers for the first time in 8 years. Rammer joins us from the Windy City. Nate and Rammer talk SLU basketball before slipping in a little Cardinals talk.

The weather is lovely on this January 17th. The High Noon crew rates walks in the park and pickleball. The Billikens are getting ready to take on Loyola, so Rammer is preparing to take a train to Chicago. Tom Brady left us with an interesting message at the end of his postgame press conference.

The Jaguars and Chargers highlighted an unbelievable slate of games over the weekend, and the guys make their predictions for the final Wild Card game between the Buccaneers and the Cowboys.

The Cardinals conversation continues on as the guys take a closer look at the pitching staff. Adam Wainwright had some thoughts during Winter Warmup. John Mozeliak shared a rebuttle to Cardinals fans who think that they missed out on a lot of free agent talent in the offseason.

The Cardinals had their winter warmup over the weekend, so High Noon is jumping back into some baseball talk. The conversation puts an emphasis on two questionable characters in the lineup: Bro'Neill and DeJong. Is Tyler O'Neill the guy we saw in 2021 or was that a mirage? Does Paul DeJong actually have a future in the lineup?

The High Noon crew is fired up to start the second segment as a Cream classic brings us back from break. Nate and Rammer are displeased with how the media misrepresented the law enforcement officers who were working to solve the Idaho quadruple murder case. 23 and Me and Ancestry.com are both solving murders and wrecking family history, including Rammer's.
