Divorce is a routine reality in the American culture. It leaves in its wake broken homes, confused children and unhealed wounds. Jesus calls his followers to a radically different perspective on divorce. In doing so, he points out that divorce has a spiritual and moral component, as well.

Jesus calls His followers to a radical level of sexual purity. In spite of the immorality which believers in America and other western cultures are surrounded by, we are called to sexual purity. In this message, we exam the radical words of Jesus in the sermon on the mount.

Jesus calls his followers to related to other people in ways that exhibit grace, love, forgiveness and patience. In this part of the sermon on the mount, Jesus identifies four areas of concern in how we relate to others.

Christ-followers are called to influence the people around them. Jesus uses salt and light to illustrate how we are to influence others.

The first 12 verses not only introduce the message but clearly point us to a critical truth. Character is more important than action. In fact, actions are a reflection of character. Before Jesus says anything about what we are to do, he outlines eight important character traits (essential virtues) of Christ-followers. He does so in a very unique way.

What if Jesus had not been resurrected from the dead? Is the resurrection of Jesus really that important? What difference did it make then and now?

The suffering of Jesus on the cross was unimaginable. His physical suffering was intense, but did not rise to the level of the other areas of His suffering. In this message we will consider the depth of the suffering of Christ when He died for us.
