Genesis 2:3-25 shows us that God is the giver of life. He is the giver of our identity, including our gender. God is also the creator of Marriage. All created good and for his glory. In this passage, we see God giving the gift of life, gender, and marriage. The message offers practical descriptions of what this looks like in everyday life.

Genesis 1 continues with the emphasis that God is the all-powerful creator of the universe. Everything he creates is good. We see that he created all people in His image. He created us male and female. God is the one who gives us our identity. He is the one who chooses our gender. He gives us dominion over his creation.

Genesis is a book about God more than anything else. James closes his letter with an exhortation to love our brothers and sisters in Christ by lovingly pursuing them if they start to wander from the truth of God’s word.  Confronting sin is never easy, yet God desires that we all be holy as he is holy.  We all can be tempted to stray.  God has given us the gift of each other to help one another to grow and to correct one another when we have wandered...

James called his church to patient endurance. Hard times can either harden our hearts or make us long for Christ’s return. James exhorts us to anticipate Christ’s return when we are tempted to Grumble. We are also to long for Christ’s return as we endure the suffering that happens in this life. James gives us 3 clear images to help us endure patiently. Remain steadfast.

  James gives a sober warning about the corrupting power of earthly riches. He draws our attention to the fact that Riches can be a spiritual handicap (v1). He also warns us to Beware of Hoarding (v2-3), Beware of Fraud (v4), and to Beware of Self-Indulgence (v5). Lastly the text has imagery that points us to the one who never allowed riches to corrupt him, the righteous one, Jesus Christ.
