This week we searched high and dry (through VOD) for two not-so-mainstream horror flicks to discuss. “Where the Scary Things Are” involves a group of kids who apparently aren’t affected by swamp monsters, murder, or unusually long dance sequences. And “Neon Lights” features brightly lit rooms which unfortunately couldn’t take our focus away from its colorful performances.

Blumhouse is back with a new scary movie, and this time it’s not a burnout (cough, “Firestarter,” cough). “The Black Phone” gave us Ethan Hawke as a creepy child abductor and a phone with supernatural (and rather convenient) abilities. “The Good Neighbor” reminded us to never date the sibling of a person you’ve run over. Facts!

Although best known for creating the “Final Destination” series, Jeffrey Reddick has gone on to create quite a name for himself writing and directing horror films. Tune in to hear the incredible story of how he got started in the biz (horror fans will be jealous), and what inspired him to write movies such as “Tamara,” “Day of the Dead” (2008), “Dead Awake,” and “Don’t Look Back.”

This week is for all the voyeurs out there, as we discuss two eerie films that involve being watched (among other things). “Watcher” gave us the heebie-jeebies as it slowly weaved its way through each dark and chilling scene. And then there’s “Dashcam” — a chaotic journey that creeped us out… but for very different reasons.

Two foreign horror flicks, one valuable lesson — children ruin everything. JK! The telepathic & telekinetic kids in the Norwegian thriller, “The Innocents,” are anything BUT innocent as they f*ck with cats, break legs, and engage in a moral battle. And “Hatching,” a Finnish film, is all about keeping up appearances… and a humongous bird that morphs into a human.

With his quotable lines and courageous personality, Roland Kincaid is one of the most memorable characters from the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise. Tune in to hear Ken tell us all about playing this Dream Warrior, his thoughts on Kincaid’s untimely demise in Part 4, and why he wants to set the record straight on something people may have misunderstood in the “Never Sleep Again” documentary.

The two movies we discuss this week brought us to very different conclusions. Hulu’s latest horror installment, “Fresh,” is smart and thrilling, and had us considering whether we’d give an arm and a leg to date Sebastian Stan. “Offseason” is heavy on fog and not so heavy on story, but more than worthy of the term “atmospheric.”
