Back to basics after a bad episode out training.

Listening to equiratings grassroots podcast and watching Lucy and new pony Teddy I've been inspired.

Following Indie pony not being 100% sound I decided with my vet Howard to ultrasound the site. Find out what we found.

Howard from Fakenham Farm & Equine vets came out on Monday to see how she was, after my call on Friday as she was lame. It was the week of all the ice cold weather and freezing ground so not much exercise done with her and I as you can hear had yet another cold which made me quite poorly.

After a very stressful hack out with the others where we probably behaved like the hack buddies from hell. I reflect on where and how far Indie Pony and I have come and is this the end?

What a year, Ginny joining the crew, the loss of Eek which was devistating. Ginny hurting herself, Tia taking a back seat. Indie Pony having asthma etc.... Rosie joining us and being such a big part of our life. Obviously with Blueberry making sure she has a staring roll. Enjoy the look back at 2023.

Rosie and I go to our first ever show together, didn't quite go the way I wanted. Laura and Lady compete for the first time and Lucy and Doni come too. Nothing goes to plan so we get a late entry into a show the next day. Find out how we get on.

Nearly three weeks off from riding due to me being ill we are back to schooling both the girls. To be honest I was feeling really nervous to get on her after the antics of yesterday but I gave myself a good talking to, tacked her up and off we went. I think it helped having had such a good ride on Rosie yesterday.

Great idea, so I thought. I had forgotten how much organising it takes to go out on adventures with the trailer, anyway off we went. Ended up calling Justine Ward after an unscheduled dismount ...listen to see what happend. NB audio quality not the usual standard as was in my truck as the wind and rain howelled around us so apologies.

After discussions with Laura we decided to get the horses really fit we need to hack more and further than we currently can on our normal rides. So its back out hacking again. Caught on the podcast Ginny nearly kicking the Farrier Sam from Downing Farrier not a good idea. Since recording this we have had Fakenham Farm & Equine Vets out twice, an Ultrasound and finally our appointment with Ken Skinner comes round. I really hope we finally find out what's wrong with Ginny and how we can get her back to being her old self again and out of pain.

Wasn't going to ride but thought why not and lets go for a quick hack to do something different. Come along and see how we got on. Laura met us as we came back.

I get brave and take indie pony schooling and then think a go round the jumps would be fun! it was. Laura gets up early to give me a quick lesson on Ginny we are progressing. We tried a new bit (she likes it) and we are getting a better trot and canter.

Or is it? Something Laura and I have wanted to do for a year or so now but generally can't go due to working etc. So off we go with the awesome Bally in her new bit and Indie Pony. Lovely Michelle comes along too on groom duties and makes the ponies look lovely. I also decided that it would be a good idea to step up a height and jump 60cm as she was going so well at home. How is new pony Ginny getting on? What are our plans? Indie Pony seems to be working really well and enjoying jumping. I ring Downing Farrier in a panic and it turns out to be a shaddow! I know how embarassing is that! Indie Pony hooves look amazing. Eek and Tia have enjoyed a really good groom then rolled in the mud!

I haven't published recently and this is the reason. Welcome Ginny to the pony crew. We have a new mare a lovely 14.3 trotter x aged 7. She has joined the pony crew. Has had a visit from the wonderful Ken Skinner, had her first jab and her teeth done, as well as saddle fitting.
