I've come across some options for using your Smarphone Off-Grid over license-free frequencies and equipment, allowing messaging and GPS location sharing. ICECO portable fridge/freezer runs on a 12v battery, but also 110v AC. During Winter Field Day, I had this running for 3-4 days on a 50ah battery with no solar panel connected, and it kept our food cold the entire time.
