Your perspective 26.02.2025

There's nothing like an upheaval in politics to start realising how we each view the world through our own lens. I can't see the good in the rise of right wing politics. There are many who can. Support the show

On the move ... 25.02.2025

We've been renting various small houses since our return from Spain. The landlord - tenant relationship is not a pleasant one. In the UK it is very heavily skewed towards the landlord. We've found a slightly bigger place and negotiated a bit of a rent reduction in exchange for doing some tidying up of the place. Lets see how that goes... Support the show

Without Prejudice 24.02.2025

When the powers that be don't want to commit themselves to anything they're not comfortable with... Support the show

Repercussions 23.02.2025

Every action has a reaction - Newtons third law ( of course ) -Actually I had to look that up. Science was sadly never my strong point and yet there are so many fascinating areas of study. Todays bit of info - for what its worth. It seems so relevant for almost every human activity. Newton's Third Law of Motion states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This means...

There's no me in team 22.02.2025

I think the often bandied about phrase is there is no  "  I "  in team - but this is better - and of course wrong. Support the show

Spring has Sprung 21.02.2025

Finally - light at the end of the tunnel . An upbeat tune to try and convey it  Support the show

The Bulbs , the bulbs 20.02.2025

They are coming through - Spring is on its way. Snow drops have been around for a while but now we've got crocuses and the beginnings of daffodils... Support the show

A Matter of Balance 18.02.2025

That last 1,000 episodes were undertaken in an attempt to keep me interested and doing something. Sometimes I despair of the lack of originality and quality and then occasionally I surprise myself - the odd episode is OK - and I can listen back to it without feeling my toes curling up in embarrassment.  This is one of the better ones - this was done when Rob ( who used to have a bit of fear of hei...

Spanish Suite 4.House on the Hill 17.02.2025

Episode 1,000. If you've enjoyed the podcast tell your friends. If you haven't enjoyed it - I'm sorry. The podcast has ended up being a musical diary since May 2022 recording some events but missing out quite a few important things. Thanks for listening so far .. Support the show

That is your lot (song) 16.02.2025

From the February 9th instrumental - a song to go with it . That is your lot - so believe it Support the show

The Boy in the Bubble 15.02.2025

The Boy in the Bubble - one of the great tracks from Paul Simon's 1987 album Graceland. This bears no relation to the song - I just remember hearing the track recently and thinking how good it was.. Support the show

Spanish Suite 3. The Last Bus 14.02.2025

No3. of the Spanish Suite put together during the covid lock down in Madrid in 2020. The buses kept running in Alcobendas, the district I lived in. At time they were the only things on the road. It was  a bit of normality in a very strange situation. Support the show

Longer Days Shorter Nights 13.02.2025

At last in the UK a sign that the winter is starting to be over. I don't have any Seasonal Affective Disorder.  But it is nice to see the day starting a little earlier ( about 7.15am now ) and finishing that little bit later ( about 5.15pm)  I had to check what S.A.D was - I thought it was a sunshine related thing - apparently not ... Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a mood disorder where...

Where to now ? 12.02.2025

I am just coming up to 1,000 episodes of the podcast - as one very pleasant chap posted - " thats more than most people do in a lifetime " . I'm just thinking about where we go from here. This was intended to just organise old material and also as a sketchpad for new ideas. Support the show

Z bed 11.02.2025

Or Zed Bed as I know it . The fold up temporary bed you use for guests. Mighty uncomfortable. Anyone can manage a really bad nights sleep without any difficulty at all. You'd think you didn't really want anyone to stay in the first place - I suppose its unlikely they'd ever come back for more ... Support the show

Whats Up ? 10.02.2025

As opposed to Whats App. The old greeting term - "How's it going ?" Heres a few others : "How's it going?" "How's everything?" "What's the story?" "What's the latest?" "What's cookin'?" "What's the word?" "What's new, buttercup?" The last one I've never heard... Support...

Piece No2 of the Spanish Suite put together when I was staying in Madrid through the 2020 lockdown. The airport was in the distance and you could always hear the planes - but not nearly so many as I remember. Support the show

Influences 5. Shape of My Heart - Sting 06.02.2025

In about 1980 Outlandos D'Amour was the first Police album with the singles So Lonely and Roxanne. I followed the Police and even saw them in a downpour at Milton Keynes bowl before they split. I loved Andy Summers guitar playing and enjoyed his instrumental album Golden Wire. This Sting song lives on very well over generations. I was a little unsure whether to do it - its done now.
