I always enjoyed the preparation for playing much more than the playing itself. The anticipation is - in effect - better than the realisation. The post performance analysis of things is never as good as the pre performance thought of how things can go. Making the guitar sound harp like is something Pierre Bensusan has done and perhaps to a lesser extent John Renbourn in his arrangement of the O'Caralan tune  Sheebeg and Sheemore.  The vihuela player Alonso Mudarra did this a very long time ago - 16th century .
