What is the reason for which we live? The glory of God is why we exist. We are redeemed to glorify God as well. Paul gave Timothy 5 ways that God is glorified in the Church and the individual lives of His people. 

Paul instructed Titus to teach sound doctrine to the Christians in Crete. Sound doctrine impacts the way the Church and home are organized. Older women are to teach younger ones, and older men are to train the younger ones. We can learn much from Paul's instruction to Titus for being a congregation in 2024.

Paul instructed Titus to teach sound doctrine, which forms the foundation for godly living. Preparing our hearts for the Lord's Supper, we studied the implications of the gospel of God's grace to enable us to live for Christ and wait for His return. 

Paul told Titus to silence the false teachers who infiltrated the Cretan congregations. These teachers intentionally led people astray, disrupting family and the congregation for greedy gain. They were to be silenced and ignored. The same is true today. 

Proper leadership is essential for the health of any congregation. Paul understood this explicitly and left Titus in Crete to establish godly elders to lead the island's fledgling congregations. We must have well-qualified leaders today as well.

How do I know that I am a Christian? That's a great question. We look for assurance daily. Can we have it? Yes. We know we are Christians when we believe in the name of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. We explain what that means in this message. 

Psalm 46 is a beautiful psalm that reminds us of our great hope in Christ. He is the only hope we have in this life. He is the mighty fortress upon whom and in whom we stand.

Jesus turns our mourning into dancing through his resurrection from the dead. He conquered our final and strongest enemy and took us to be his people when he arose. Psalm 30 gives us a beautiful framework through which to understand some of the effects of the resurrection in our daily lives. We will all find ourselves in David's story. May we never lose the hope for the resurrection.

The crowd joined Jesus's disciples in praising Him as He entered Jerusalem triumphantly. They rejoiced in His arrival and shouted His praise. We are to do the same. We learn about our responsibility to praise him from Zechariah 9.

Why does the church baptize her members? Basically, she does it because Jesus told her too and baptism is the sacrament through which members enter the visible people of God. It's all about covenant and God's faithfulness to fulfill his promises to his people.

Do I have a place in the Church? Absolutely, you do. You are a par of the one body that God created in his grace to be His people. You are a member of the Church through faith in Christ, which is a gift from the Holy Spirit. You are also uniquely gifted to serve Him, build up the Church, and advance His kingdom. You have to use those gifts faithfully.

Why does the Church have a supper? Great question. Simply, we have it because Jesus commands us to do it, which is a really gracious thing for him to do. It is a commemoration of the redemptive work of Christ on our behalf. It is covenantal, ordinary, and experiential. What is the Church supposed to do? And, why? These are the questions that we seek to answer in this week's message on the Church. Simply, we say that the Church is to worship the Triune God, nurture one another, serve Christ and others, and witness to the glory of God's grace and love in Christ. 

Who is really in charge of the Church? Jesus Christ. He's the head of his body, and when the Church is disconnected from him, she dies. His original authority is stewarded by the rightfully elected officers of the congregation. 

What is the Church? Who or what makes up the Church? We answer those questions in our new sermon series on the Church. In short, the Church is all those in the world who profess the true religion and their children. The Church is the household of God.
