Gridirons of Europe

In episode 81 we introduce our new co-host, Antoine Allen! Antoine has joined us for numerous episodes in the past year, and we're now bringing him in as a full member of the team. We discuss how this will change the podcast as a whole, and we discuss some other recent news from the podcast and Division 1.

In episode 80 we speak with JP Lannefors, currently a RB for AIK, and formerly their Head Coach. It's a wide ranging football discussion where we discuss everything from JP's High School experience to the current situation of football in Sweden.

In episode 79 we speak with AIK QB/OC Ludvig Persson. Together we discuss his involvement with football, from getting run over playing OL when he first started playing as a kid, to playing and coaching at some of the highest levels in Sweden.

In episode 78 we speak to the newly signed GFL players from Finland: RB Nico Barrow and DB Peter Lundstrom. Together we discuss their backgrounds in football and their expectations entering the GFL, playing on opposite sides of the field from one another. At the end we give our Super Bowl predictions; were we correct?

In episode 77, we briefly discuss the Swedish Division 1 Schedule and give updates from the Spanish and French leagues. We then play a game of "Would You Rather..?" football scenarios.

In episode 76 we speak with Stockholm Mean Machines WR Matthew Retzlaff. We go through his career, from growing up in Oregon to becoming an instrumental part of the Stockholm Mean Machines organization.

In episode 75 we speak with former Örebro Black Knights Head Coach Aaron Fiddler. Together we discuss his time in Europe, both as an Offensive Coordinator in Germany and a Head Coach in Sweden.

In episode 74 we speak with Rhein Fire WR Nathaniel Robitaille, who makes his second appearance on the podcast. Together we have a fun conversation about the football life in Europe.

In episode 73 we bring on Niklas Persson, OL Coach for the Kristianstad Predators and he also happens to be Andre's older brother. In this episode Osaid hosts a quiz between the brothers, testing their knowledge of Swedish football history.

In the first episode of 2023, Andre and Osaid discuss AFI's end of the year rankings of the top 25 teams in Europe. The guys also discuss the start of the Spanish league and introduce new guest questions which we proceed to give our own answers to.

In episode 71 we host the inaugural Gridirons of Europe Awards Show! We hand out awards for Game of the Year, Favorite Running Bit, Guest of the Year and more. After the awards have been handed out, we round off the episode by reflecting on what our first full year on the podcast has meant to us and the football community.

In episode 70 we speak to Stockholm Mean Machines and Swedish national team defensive lineman Sebastian Diakiti. We discuss his football career, including him as a high school exchange student, his many years of being a driving force with the Norrköping Panthers, and his experiences joining the Mean Machines.

In episode 69 we bring back one of our favorite guests, Christoffer Dessezar, and together we have a fun discussion about sports and football in a classic Gridirons of Europe off-track episode.

In episode 68 we speak with Oscar Gramming and Ludvig Haglund of the Gothenburg Marvels. Oscar Gramming came back from a year as an exchange student in Kentucky to go win the national championship for his hometown Marvels in the Swedish U19 series, and Ludvig Haglund helped coach the Marvels' U19 team and he also plays as an offensive lineman for their senior team.

In episode 67 we look back on the 2022 seasons. We discuss the leagues we have covered and we reflect on the experiences we've had doing the podcast throughout the year.

This episode was recorded without Andre so the topics were everything and nothing at the same time.

In episode 65 we bring on Kristianstad Predators O-lineman Robin Rydberg, and together we talk about all manner of things, including the upcoming U19 final, Robin's experience in Essen at a PPI camp there, and a whole lot more.

In episode 64 we bring back newly signed Carlstad Crusader and Lost in the Game podcast host Antoine Allen. We start by discussing the recently played U19 semifinals, and later we get into Antoine's thoughts about joining the Crusaders in 2023.

In episode 63 we bring back one of our favorite guests from the past: DE for the now ELF champion Vienna Vikings, Leon Balogh. We discuss how their champion season went, the ELF's future and much more.

In episode 62 we preview the Swedish U19 playoffs and discuss our power rankings heading into the semifinals. Can the Marvels stay on top after loss to finish out the season? Are the Flyers new favorites?

Andre sits down with Carlstad Crusaders U19 Head Coach Per-Arne "P-A" Forsman, and together they discuss P-A's involvement in football over the years and how this year's U19 season is going.

In episode 60 we briefly touch upon the latest from U19 football in Sweden. Later, we bring back one of our earliest guests in the podcast's short history: Team Sweden QB Philip Juhlin. With Juhlin we discuss the formation of this year's national team, and we talk about expectations and team chemistry ahead of the games this fall with the Swedish men's national team.

In episode 59 we catch up on the big events happening throughout football Europe. We then proceed to do our weekly check-in on the Swedish U19 series.

In episode 58 the guys are joined by a returning guest in AIK's Leander Mrowka. Leander is coaching the DBs for AIK's U19 team, and he joins us to discuss the season so far, last weekend's games, and the upcoming games, including a clash between Andre's Predators and Leander's AIK team.

In episode 57 we talk about the week that's been and the week coming up in U19 football in Sweden, but we also get sidetracked as we talk a bit about the GFL and a myriad of other topics.
