What does it mean to do mercy? Let's look at the Parable of the Good Samaritan as Jesus told it. Examining this story can help us learn how Jesus wants us to show mercy, then as Jesus commanded, we can go and do likewise.

Prodigal derives from Latin as “wasteful, to drive forth or away’ to waste, squander. It is one who spends or gives lavishly and foolishly - one who has returned after an absence. The story of the prodigal son is a picture of God's love for his children. 

Good stories are great. Whether it’s a movie or book, stories can move us in ways other forms of communication cannot. Some of us have favorite books and I often ask for suggestions for great stories. I particularly like historical fiction. Your character will determine what kind of life you live. We are sanctified by God’s Word and a holy life brings favor in our relationships with other people. Many Proverbs speak to how we may interact with others in wisdom to live a full, godly, and satisfying life. Throughout this message, evaluate yourself and how you treat others.

Don't mistake Jesus as being passive. The Ascended Jesus is present with us. He is active. He is present with us. Jesus is working all things for our good. He takes tough situations and turns them for the good.

Who taught you what life was about? Mentor? Teacher? Parent? The truth is that we’re all a disciple of something. It may not be Jesus and if you’re not there yet, that’s ok.

There are lots of reasons why people walk away from their faith, but what I believe to be one of the biggest ones is that they don’t feel like they have permission to have unanswered questions and doubts. We want to be a church that is FOR YOU and part of being for you is creating space for you to process your doubts and questions in a way that is healthy.

How has Jesus revealed Himself to you? Today we'll examine encounters with Jesus after His resurrection from the dead through the story of The Road to Emmaus.

Jesus forgives us and seeks to restore us. You can have an encounter with Jesus, and just like the disciples, it changes you forever.

Jesus intercedes for the church and His intercession is a promise.

Jesus calls us to live fruitful lives born out of loving relationship with Him. And as we do that, we’ll experience joy and opposition.

Jesus is God and we know God through Jesus and Jesus alone. God’s love for us is authored by the Father realized through Jesus and manifested in us by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus’ love is persistent, even with full knowledge of betrayal from Judas and Peter, and Jesus’ love informs our love for one another and others, even when we face hostility, rejection, and betrayal..

Discipleship is walking with one another toward Jesus and God acts within healthy discipleship. But what does discipleship look like? It can take many forms - small groups, teaching and preaching, and even individual relationships.

Remember who you belong to, whose you are. Get back to your first love, back to basics. Remember your identify and stand firm in faith.   

Zarephath, which means "to melt/smelt" or "crucible", was a place for further refinement for Elijah in preparation of his public ministry. Crucibles create Christlikeness. A crucible brings impurities to the surface to be skimmed off the top, leaving greater purity. 

God will provide. We need only trust in Him. In every season God is working. Even when the “brook dries up” we can trust that God is in control and He is with us. God provides exactly what we need at exactly the right time.  

Life is better with breathing room. Stress decreases, focus broadens, and relationships thrive. Creating breathing room in our lives is not just about us. Creating breathing room helps us to live out the greatest commands Jesus gives us. It’s really hard to love your neighbor well, if you don’t have the breathing room to care for yourself.
