Betrayal is one of the deepest wounds to heal. Being the betrayer is one of the deepest guilts to overcome. Every sin seeks to uphold our own identity while denying our connection to Jesus. Why doesn't God keep us from experiencing difficulty in life? Following Jesus means preparing for difficult days not escaping difficult days. Prayer is our tether to hope in difficult times. Being more concerned with status than compassion is a sign of false faith. False Faith is hopeless. Jesus offers a greater calling. The idea that we can be good enough to earn our way to heaven is not a new concept. Some people will trip over Jesus in their pursuit of God. God cares deeply about the stewardship of our resources. God measures success by the multiplication of what he has entrusted to us. Multiplication takes work and risk. Being comfortable with what we've been given will cost us the little we have.
