Am I saved?

This passage presents a series of laws given to Israel concerning justice, purity, responsibility, and community order. As part of Deuteronomy’s larger covenant instructions, these verses reflect the seriousness with which Yahweh’s people were called to uphold holiness, protect the vulnerable, and preserve faithfulness within the assembly.

James speaks of faith and works, as we covered in our last lesson. We have viewed faith as the operating system by which the believer must function. Now James turns to speak about the speech and the heart of the believer.
