The Ministry of Tourism has launched a national exhibition showcasing artwork destined for Saint Lucia’s first underwater sculpture park. Government is moving to establish a national weightlifting gym as part of efforts to provide greater support and investment across sporting disciplines. The facility is expected to give local weightlifters improved training conditions and help them prepare for regional and international competitions.

The Men Advancing in Life Through Education and Skills programme is offering young men free training in areas including plumbing, electrical installation, air-conditioning and refrigeration. Participants will also receive entrepreneurial, first-aid and other essential skills training, with registration open at NSDC offices until September 15, 2026.

As the new school year begins, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition is encouraging families to prioritize healthy eating, regular physical activity and water instead of sugary drinks. Schools and parents are also being urged to support students' mental well-being by creating safe and supportive environments where children can express their concerns.

Saint Lucia has recorded its highest overall CSEC pass rate in six years, achieving an average pass rate of 78.93% and outperforming the region in 28 of 33 subjects. A total of 9,644 grades 1, 2 and 3 passes were recorded, with educators urged to build on the progress while addressing weaker performance in subjects including Mathematics, French, Caribbean History and Spanish.

More than 50 tourism operators in Soufrière have received guidance on tourism certification and available incentives. The Ministry of Tourism’s information session provided technical assistance with applications and helped operators better understand the certification process, with further sessions planned to strengthen support and standards across the tourism sector.

The Takeover Tent is marking 45 years of using calypso to promote social awareness and provide a platform for emerging talent. The organization is being recognized for its contribution to socially conscious music and commentary, with its legacy highlighted during an Emancipation event where “Reparations” by tent member Herb Black was selected as an anthem for the reparations movement.

After decades of inactivity, the La Woz tradition has been revived in Babonneau with the formation and official presentation of a new group.
