It’s finally here! Jesus is alive! In John 20, we learn that Jesus Christ rose from the grave and, beginning with Mary, we start to see the mourning, confusion, and chaos of the disciples be suddenly and decidedly transformed into celebration, confidence, and clarity when they see their resurrected Lord. The resurrection of Jesus Christ changes our perspective because it changes our lives!

John 19:31-42 is so much more than just a transition passage between the death and resurrection of Jesus. Instead, John uses the space between the cross and the empty tomb to give us evidence verifying the death of Jesus Christ so that we can know that our faith is both trustworthy and true.
