Go in Peace

Jesus calls us on our tendency to initially resist what he's calling us to do, but keeps calling us anyway and when he follow, we discover the eternal life he was leading us in all along. Luke 13:31-35.

During Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness, we see that nothing will deter Jesus from living out God’s mission. This sermon also explores how we can nurture our faith relationship with God. Luke 4: 1-13.

When Jesus calls us to love our enemies, to pray for those who persecute us, and to be merciful just as God is merciful to us, Jesus frees us with God's love and also leads us in ways that bring forth new life in us, in our relationships, and beyond. Jesus sets us free with God's love. Some days Jesus frees us with a word of comfort and other days we are freed by his word of caution. Both the blessings and woes serve the same purpose: to set us free with God's love so we can live a resurrected life. Luke 6

"Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his pathways straight." Luke 3: 1-6. John the Baptist calls us to get ready for Jesus and to make room in our heart, soul, and life for God's gift of Jesus.

Jesus anticipates our tendency to hunker down when we feel stuck and calls us to keep at it and to light a candle. Luke 21:25-36.

Sell your possessions and give the money to the poor.” Jesus calls us to see our possessions as opportunities to help our neighbors in need and Jesus calls to shift our focus from what we will no longer have to instead see the people who will be blessed.
