After a night spent resting in Ethacali's chamber, the heroes find themselves under attack by the sorcerer himself.

Aradion and the dwarves fight a cavern full of dreadful bats, then delve further into the crystal caves to discover Ethacali's personal abode. 

In the aftermath of a troll attack, the party loot the monsters' lair and continue tracking Ethacali through the Yfelwood.

Oswy entreats the dwarves to help Aradion to track down the sorcerer Ethacali and hopefully find the lair of the terrible Blood Wights. The young Vulseggi peasant Bagha begs to be allowed to accompany them.

Aradion, an elf sent from Rivendell to investigate sightings of an ancient undead elf-bane, arrives at the Tirthon.

Aragost and the dwarves entertain night-time visitors.

Aragost and Mhenuk spy on activity in the yard of Ynarri's Drift. Meanwhile, Glock and Mhutvak deal with tensions inside the Tirthon.

Now inside the relative safety of the Tirthon, the dwarves and Aragost settle in to endure what promises to be a long siege. The Tirthon's Captain, Marendil, proposes a cavalry sortie to scatter the attackers before they can entrench.
