As we turn the page to the second chapter of Jonah we realize that the Lord was all about saving the Ninevites, but He was also about saving Jonah too. Did Jonah deserve to be saved? Nope. Did Jonah deserve to die in that body of water? Yep. But God had mercy on Jonah and sent a fish...a fish that would swallow him and then three days later, spit him up on the beach.
