So many people fill their lives with quests to find meaning and purpose. So many people wander aimlessly looking for hope. So many people wonder if there was a God what would he be like? Christmas invites us to find an answer to our searching. God isn’t distant and disinterested - God took on flesh so he could be known, and in Jesus we can all find what we are searching for.

As we consider Jesus the baby, we are invited to encounter the God of all creation – His power, might and majesty. The Apostle John starts his account of Jesus story not in a stable in Bethlehem, but by taking us to the very beginning, where Jesus was found in the midst of creation. “Through him all things were made, without him nothing was made that has been made”. David was described by God as, “A man after Gods own heart, who will do all my will” and he was a prolific writer of worship songs. Under a new covenant in Christ, we are invited to walk and worship in the presence of God today. Jesus calls us to a lifestyle of worship — a continual, heartfelt pursuit of God in spirit and in truth, acknowledging Him for who He truly is.

As David cried out to the Lord for forgiveness, God in his extravagant grace, chose to take away David’s sin and restore him. We are all broken sinners in need of God’s extravagant grace. In Christ, we are all offered forgiveness of sin and restoration of relationship through the blood of Jesus. Today is a good day to flee from temptation, confess our sins and seek healing in Jesus.

How are you passing on the wisdom of the good life to the next generation? God’s vision for His family is that it is multiethnic, multicultural, and multigenerational. God doesn’t like when we divide down generational lines. In fact, He sees only one generation at a time – His people, alive and serving, in this moment!

Whether your family table is messy with kids, teenagers, or missing loved ones, God wants to bless it. Just like our ongoing renovations at home, families need transformation and wisdom from God. Blessings come as we bear with each other, forgive, and love extravagantly. Embrace God's wisdom, submit to His will, and ask for His favour to see blessings flow into your family.
