Lee reads chapters 37 to 40 of the book of Genesis.  Joseph is entrusted with a lot of responsibility at work, which he bears well.  Things go very wrong when he is falsely accused by Potiphar's wife.  Joseph is thrown in prison, but even there he proves himself to be trustworthy and is given responsibility.  He certainly is faithful in little, will he be faithful in much? &nbs...

Lee reads chapters 34 to 37 of the book of Genesis.  We see Jacob and the fam set up home in Shechem only to treat the people of Canaan deceitfully and sin greatly against them.  As a response to such deceit and sin there is a family wide repentance at Bethel.  We are given the family line of Esau and are introduced to Joseph the dreamer.

Lee finishes off chapter 30 and reads to chapter 33.  Jacob, who is now very wealthy, leaves Laban with all his family and travels back to his father.  He is not sure how he will be received by his brother Easu and on the way meets with the pre-incarnate Jesus.  Jacob walks differently after this encounter with Jesus!

Lee reads chapters 27-30 of Genesis.  Jacob & Rebekah deceive Isaac to get the blessing.  Jacob leaves and runs to Haran, here the 12 tribes of Israel are born from such a chaotic family life, from envy & jealousy and emotional pain and hurt.  How gracious God is in working in and through all of this human weakness and sin!

Lee reads chapters 24 to 26 of the book of Genesis

Lee finishes off chapter 19 and reads until the end of chapter 23.

Lee reads chapters 15 to 19 of Genesis.  We see Abram and Sarai given a new names, Abraham and Sarah!  We see Abraham and Sarah trying to bring about the promises of God by their own works and the consequences are tragic!  We see Abraham's response to the covenant in him circumcising his whole household and we see the Lord on earth raining down judgment from the Lord in heaven on So...

Lee reads chapters 10 to 15 of Genesis.  We cover the tower of Babel, the calling out of Abram and the Lord proclaiming his intent on blessing him and all his descendants and Abram's worship of the God who is with him and fights for him.

We see sin and evil increase upon the earth and God's grief and then judgment upon it.  There is hope in the judgment - the ark.  There is safety and salvation in the ark, which delivers Noah and his family to a renewed creation but sin and wickedness still persists - a greater and deeper cleansing is required!

In this first reading of our RBT book for April, Lee reads chapters 1 to 4.  The origin of creation; the origin of Humanity; the origin of sin; the origin of death and the origin of sacrifice and atonement.
