Funnybooks and Firewater

We go to hell and back with Swampthing in this week's volume.  We continue down in our deep dive into Allen Moore's bizarre epic. 

This week we are starting our deep dive into Alen Moores run on Swamp Thing. Who is ready to get metaphysical?

We end our fifth annual Halloween month with  Archie vs Predator. A book that is just as weird, bloody, goofy, and wonderful as you would expect from the title.  

Join us as we read a book from a simpler time, a time before Zombies were completely played out.  This week we are reading Marvel Zombies, the second to last in this year's Halloween Comics.

Well, Adam finally did it. He got us to read this book.  We read Crossed, so you don't have to. 

Mix some Dracula with some Blacksploitation cinema and you get our first book of this year's month of Halloween comics.  

We are ending our Back-To-School month 'A Silent Voice'. The first part of a story is about a bully and his eventual redemption. 

We all relive our high school days with a book about a high school theater crew.  

Back to school month continues with the story of superpowers in paint cans.  

We are starting our Back to School month in Gotham City. We're packing up our trapper-keepers and starting classes at Gotham Academy.

Who's a Good Boy?  This week we finish up our Dog Days of summer with the best member of the Eternals, their faithful pal, Lockjaw!

Our dog days of summer continue with Grumble.  A story of a con-man in a pug's body.  Ya know, the same old story.  

Take one part Conan the Barbarian, one part Monty Python, shake the shit out of it, and serve on the back of a giant Pug, and you have Battle Pug.

Dog Days of summer continue with Science  Dog.  A character  Laina's dad described as a cross between a Scotty dog, and Cable from the X-Men. I can't say that he's wrong.  

It's the dog days of summer, so we're reading dog-centric comics. We may have regretted letting Todd pick the first book.  Thanks a lot, TODD!

Summer loving happened so fast. We finish our month of romance comics with the manga Blue Flag. 

This week we are reading a cute story about a high school crush.  We reveal way too much about our high school days.  Adam brags about being popular in school. We get it, Adam, you have FRIENDS!

So this one is gonna fail the Bechdel test. Strangers In Paradise is a very 90's book about a girl with relationship troubles and her best friend who has a crush on her.  

We start our "Summer Loving" month off with a little controversy.  This week's book is problematic in so many ways, but that also leads to some fun conversations. 

Fresh off the press!  We are finishing off our Pride Month with the 2021 DC comics Pride Anthology.  

We're a bit split on this week's book. We do agree on the HBOMax Harley Quinn is worth a watch.  

An all-boys school's fencing team is the backdrop for drama and rivalry in this week's edition of our pride month books - Fence. 

We begin our 2021 pride celebration with the amazingly adorable My Brothers Husband. This book is a lovefest, and we loved it too!

We end our month of Star Wars books with one of the newest additions to the saga - Poe Dameron. When Barny Stinson said "Newer is always better", was he wrong? Yes, yes he was. 

"I'm blue da boo dee, da bo da!"  This week we're reading about a newer entry to Star Wars cannon. This week's book is Thrawn.
