Free Range Preacher on Prayer

Who is this King of Glory? Today brings us one step further out of the 25-26 estuary. The King of Glory is our Creator, Savior, and Sustainer. He is kind and long-suffering, but also Holy and true. He also asks Job and us where we were at the moment of creation, how the universe is truly sustained, and lastly (today), if we cannot conquer His creation, how do we confront Him? Today is fun because...

Unlike Jeremiah, Job had no idea what was coming his way. One of the salient aspects of the Book of Job is that God never explains Himself, not to us or Job. We are back to wading through 2025 and 2026. We take a foray into the will of God. "And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent." John 17:3 "And we know that God ca...

As we continue wading through the estuary of 2025/2026/October Surprise 2025, we continue, after our long delay, with our Signature Episode: this one assurance through prayer. We hear Jesus say: "For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. "But seek His kingdom, and these things shall be added to you. 32 "Do not be af...

Trusting the Lord as we wrap up our October Surprise, season 7, finish up our Signature episode, and begin Season 8, we hear God, the Almighty, challenge Job’s assertion that he will walk into God's presence, “like a prince,” and demand an answer. The Lord, the I AM, instead challenges Job’s arm, presence, eminence, dignity, honor, and majesty. If God says, Job has those attributes in His meas...

Welcome to the Free Range Preacher on Prayer podcast, episode 1 of season 8, or the official episode one of season 8. As we welcome the nations of Eswatini, Bangladesh, and Israel to the podcast, we are in an estuary season. God willing, we take the next few weeks to finish our October Surprise, Signature episode started in December, and begin Season Eight. I recently read a letter by Samuel Ruthe...

The outline of Job 39 shows that God has designed the animal kingdom and its environments perfectly. God designed birth, mountain goats, oxen, horses, and birds, all perfectly suited for their flourishing. And the Ostrich is neglectful with her nest and the callous care of the eggs of the troop, and yet they survive even in carelessness. But the ostrich and the emu are fearless. In 1932, a flock o...

Science tells us exactly how the universe began…Cosmic lightening, Mysterious forces, and luck. -as of a documentary on the creation. God, however, revealed to Job: The water cycle, the earth spins on its axis, springs in the oceans, the limits on the shorelines, mountains and valleys under the seas, the mysteries of light, water freezing from the top down, along with His creative power, thousands...

The 17.03 mark transitions to closing information. We continue looking at how Jeremiah's long life of consistent prayer leads him to be able to say in Lamentations: "He has filled me with bitterness, He has made me drunk with wormwood. 16 And He has broken my teeth with gravel; He has made me cower in the dust." Jeremiah 3:15-16 AND "Surely my soul remembers And is bowed down wi...

Today, we say hello to my friend Genci, pastor of Eagles Church in Tirana, Albania, along with all our brothers and sisters who live in Albania. Genci is a man of character who loves his flock and has a beautiful family. The point of mentioning we are sinners, bigger on the inside and lonely, is to demonstrate our great need not only for salvation but to know and be known by others, most criticall...

Today, we welcome Israel to our listening audience. Thank you for giving the Free Range Preacher on Prayer podcast! We are looking this October at just who is our King of Glory? Today we see Him again high and lifted up, and in His presence we are humbled. Job began his season of trial with unfeigned worship of the God of the universe. “Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he...

We highlight and rejoice in the closed countries where we are heard. We want you to know we remember you daily in our prayers and are blessed you listen. I struggled in the first year of my salvation in the area of prayer. Forty-five or so years ago, I neither understood, comprehended, nor apprehended that I was in a new and authentic relationship with my Creator, Savior, and Internal Companion wh...

Today, we accomplish two things: we welcome the country of Eswatini and pray that God will shine forth on His kingdom here on earth, committing to 2026 being a year in which we find God shining forth for His treasured ones. "Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, Thou who dost lead Joseph like a flock; Thou who art enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!" Psalm 80:1 Knowing our weaknesses,...

Addendum: We begin with a challenge to the special ones who listen but are in Christ, part of the Kingdom of Christ. We welcome Hong Kong and are glad you joined the Free Range Preacher on Prayer. In part two of our signature episode, we find that through the Messiah, we have been reconciled to God, we are no longer enemies but Children, and we are brought into a new and transparent relationship w...

When I first got saved and had no knowledge of the Bible, I was young and married for about a year. My idea of heaven was holding my wife's hand and flying through the universe, exploring the wonders of God's creation. The Holy Spirit, the Bible, and some maturity have changed my thoughts on the nature of heaven: "And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, a...

The King of glory, might in strength, also is our Good Shepherd, and He leads us like a flock. Today we meditate on one of the most beloved Psalms, reminding ourselves that our ultimate destination is glorious eternity in the presence of our Creator, Savior, and Sustainer. Psalm 23 "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet w...

My best days are many times sleepless nights. God has often made the most resounding impact on His hard-headed slave -me- through sleepless nights wrestling with Him. This delayed episode is just one occasion of God's work on a dull hearer.  We will see how dangerous it is to believe we pray primarily to get what we want.  We follow Balak and Balaam as they persist in prayer, which is clearly...

Morocco has beautiful landscapes and movie sets from around the world. My favorite is Casablanca, which stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Thank you, everyone in Morocco, for listening. Our impossible need: To understand prayer, we need to understand what it means to be human. We cry before we can talk, but the reasons we cry and talk are the same. We are sinners. The natural state of our s...

This episode is a repeat of our episode on forgiveness. This episode was well received, and as you will hear, praying that 2023 will be a year of Jubilee and Forgiveness, and revisiting just how serious God is about His children forgiving as we have been forgiven seems like a good idea. Thank You, Jesus! The host is weak, faltering, and wholly inadequate for the task, but the word of God is none o...

Who is this King of Glory? In the 17th and 18th centuries, the sport of fox throwing was a big attraction. Augustus II the Strong, the King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, was a champion fox thrower. He threw foxes to show off his strength, not his humanitarianism! David on the other hand, fought a lion and a bear because he was not just a shepherd, but a good shepherd. The King of Glory is our G...

Who is this King of glory? He is our Shepherd, and we will find out how much the Good Shepherd means to His sheep. Today we find: All I know about shepherding I learned from: The Bible "A Shepherd's Look at Psalm 23" -W Phillip Keller Basque friends with a shepherding background. And YouTube videos of Shepherd and their work dogs. Sheep, it turns out, are the most needy of animals; t...

Our Creator, Savior, and Sustainer assures us, not only that He is our compassionate Father, but that our salvation is entirely His doing. "Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author...

Have you ever heard or read a preacher say, "We must daily remind ourselves of the Gospel"? That is key in our battle against discouragement. Our second conundrum stems from our struggle against sin. Our comfort is the Gospel; we have been moved by God's mercies from God being our Judge to God being our Father. There are four Biblical principles we need to keep top of mind. 1. The ba...

We are reminded that we have everything we need for life and godliness, and that part of what —or who — we need is a Strong Tower. "Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.&quot...

Today we call out to our God who suffered temporally so we can live eternally. Our greatest sorrow, though, is our separation, even for a time, in the death of those we love. In that separation, we are most obviously bruised and weak. Today, we glory in our faithful Savior, not breaking us in our weakness. "A BATTERED REED HE WILL NOT BREAK OFF, AND A SMOLDERING WICK HE WILL NOT PUT OUT, UNTI...

So apprehensive is my nature that, as a boy, before our nightly entertainment was in any way under our control, if I saw that "The Rockford Files" was going to be a two-part episode, I would go to my room to read or listen to music! I didn't and still don't like suspense! But what else is worrying, other than not knowing the future and being fearful of what is going to happen nex...
