We know turning lemons into lemonade is an old adage used to turn bad situations into good ones but do we ever realise as Christians that God has done it through His people all throughout history and He continues to do it with us. This is Part 1 of a 2-part message on Romans 10:9 that is commonly used to teach a certain doctrine called Lordship Salvation - a doctrine which changes the gospel.

This is the final instalment of messages on Romans 9 where Paul sums up his thoughts and answers the Jewish objectors of his time with Scripture.

Pastor Tim presents a Calvinistic interpretation of Romans 9 and explains 3 big inconsistencies with it. The third is explored in verse 22 when it comes to asking why God is needing to be patient with vessels of dishonour that are prepared for destruction. 

A common interpretation of this popular analogy is that the clay does not have any input into how the Potter moulds it. But is that really the case? 

The accusation is that there is injustice with God...but why? It may not be what you think!

This would probably be one of, if not, the most controversial verse in the whole of the Bible but it doesn't have to be. Pastor Tim expounds this verse and gives us an interpretation that doesn't have be controversial. He also goes further and reconciles the love of God with His hatred towards the wicked. Can He express both at the same time? You decide!

The answer to this question is really the dividing line that separates the two primary interpretations of this passage. Is Paul using this reference of Jacob and Esau to tell his audience that God has chosen one for salvation and the other to damnation OR is Paul telling his audience that God chose to use one for His purposes and not the other. It's a question that people are afraid to ask because it implies God is reactionary and that is not the case because our Heavenly Father is an omniscient God. He is unable to react to anything because He already knows what is going to happen. But the contention lies within God's decisions and it's an important question to ask as it reflects the accuracy of God's sovereignty and character.

The most important message on Romans 9 is this one as every interpretation of this chapter hinges on the interpretation of this verse and the promise that God has for Israel. You may need to listen to this one twice!

For one of the most hated nations in the world, we seem to sometimes lose track of why Israel is so special. These few verses cover the characteristics of what makes them so special in God's eyes. The marvellous thing to take from it is that we personally get to experience each of these characteristics through Jesus.

There are two primary interpretations to this passage but in this message, Pastor Tim argues that another interpretation may be more plausible. The question to ask is why Paul addresses these "links of redemption" and the hint is given in the previous verse.

This is one of the most popular verses for a Christian to not just memorise, but to live by. We have all clung on to this verse many a time in our lives when we wonder what God is doing.
