Recently, I preached on the Our Father, but I didn’t explain the ending part of it. There are multiple reasons for this, one of them being I didn’t want the homily to be too long. Some scripture passages need a closer look in order to properly understand them. Saint Paul talks about slavery and Jesus, talks about hating people. Our Lord calls us to humility, which is all about truth. The truth is God considers you worth dying for. When we live out of this truth and inspires us a greater desire to glorify God and to relate to him in prayer. Listen to my homily to learn more.

The second reading reminds us that we are sons of the heavenly Father. Our Father in heaven loves us so much and wants us to be with Him forever in heaven, but as Jesus tells us in our gospel passage, it’s not easy to get to heaven. Listen to my homily to learn more.

Sometimes we can misunderstand each other, and that can lead to division. Our Lord says He came to establish division rather than peace, but what does He mean by that? Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We might wonder, what does that mean? In the familiar parable of the good Samaritan, the victim encounters the good Samaritan who takes care of him. We are the victim in need of encountering our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who for us is the good Samaritan. Listen to my homily to learn more.

Priests celebrate Mass for us. They also draw people to God and provide grace for them to go deeper in their relationship with the Lord. Let us pray that the Lord gives us more priests to be at His service.

This Trinity Sunday happens to also be Father’s Day. As we examine the inner workings and relationship of the members of the Trinity, especially God the Father, we can see how the Father participates in the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. When I asked where I wanted to go, I simply said heaven. Heaven should be our ultimate goal. Are we living our lives here on earth for the sake of heaven what next steps can be taken so that we can continue our journey on the way to this ultimate goal? Listen to my family for some ideas.

This is a great day for our second graders, who will for the first time be united with our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist.
