What story do you tell about yourself? So many of us let our past failures stop us from embracing the good plans of God for our futures. We suffer in shame with how we’ve hurt ourselves and others. We don’t allow ourselves to receive the freedom and forgiveness that Jesus offers us.

Sometimes we read these stories, we hear them preached, and we think, "Wow, Jesus did some pretty awesome things". He really loved to do those things back then. But, these stories don’t just happen in the pages of history. This isn’t just who Jesus was or what Jesus did. This is who Jesus is and what he does now.

Advent #2: We are looking at a series of events leading up to the birth of Jesus, and how all along the way, it was a series of holy interruptions. Of God breaking into the lives of normal people and giving them a choice to maintain the status quo or interrupt it for something greater.

Advent Hope: The beauty of advent is that we don’t just look back at Jesus's birth and remember the night hope was born. We don’t just cling to history. In advent hope, we look forward to a day when Jesus himself makes all things new again.

Reset Your Mind #7: Our culture and major religions of the world encourage a performance-based system. What you do, and how you act, determine whether you are good. Earn this, earn that. What did Jesus teach? What do we need to do to be right with God? Is it our good deeds? Acts of service? Spoiler: it's neither of those.

Reset Your Mind #6: Are your old ways of thinking still finding their way into your life? Are you looking for peace and stability in Jesus-less substitutes? You want to follow the Jesus way but still find yourself looking for spirituality in places other than Him. Jesus wants to reset the way you think.

Reset Your Mind #4: Jesus never said, “Come to me, all of you who have it all together and figured out." He said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens.” Are you feeling burdened? weary? discouraged? Bring it to Jesus.
