SHEFF UTD. [A] the verdict .... Sykes the saviour as City secure deserved point 12.03.2025

DaveP is joined by Tom Sutton & the Toveys [Dave & Mark] in discussing a compelling game at Bramall Lane. Max produced a couple of decent saves in the first half and had Armstrong's headed chance gone in would deservedly had an advantage at the break. The Blades were always going to raise their game and subs Brewster & Hamer combined to give the ball to Campbell who slotted home the op...

HULL CITY [H] the verdict ...... once again City fail a play off audition 09.03.2025

Watching City is so frustrating as was perfectly illustrated against Hull who they couldn't break down despite having a one man advantage for 80 minutes [inc. time added on]. DaveP is joined by the Toveys & Neil Sutton in trying to raise hopes that there remain enough games to steal 5th or 6th from Coventry or West Brom Hosted on Acast. MILLWALL [A] the verdict ..... woke up this morning feeling fine! 05.03.2025

DaveP is joined by Neil Sutton, Dave Fevs & the unrelated Toveys [Dave & Mark] in assessing City confidence building victory at the New Den. Zak Vyner scored his first goal in two years with forgotten man Harry Cornick grabbing a crucial second goal with 10 minutes remaining. City's play off aspirations will gain further momentum if they can follow up this win with another against Hull at...

BORO [H] the verdict ...... Earthy wind & fire propel City into the Top 6!! 22.02.2025

Two George Earthy tap ins gave City a crucial victory in a highly charged atmosphere under the lights against Michael Carrick's stalling Middlesborough. The villain of the piece was Tommy Conway whose close range header after more weak hands from Max O'Leary had given his side an interval lead. In the 2nd half, with City reverting to a flat back 4 after Pring introduction on the hour, the fans wer...

CARDIFF [A] the verdict ........ Manning in game management called into question again 16.02.2025

There was a degree of inevitability about Cardiff's equaliser in the 91st minute as City withdrew into their customary shell seeking to protect the single goal advantage that had come from Knight's headed opener. DaveP, the Tovey's & Neil Sutton dissect the action and conclude that Manning is not brave but perhaps this trait stretches right to the top of the club which explains why we are wher...

STOKE [H] the verdict ..... Mehmeti brace reignites play off hopes 13.02.2025

Mehmeti scored a brace in a convincing win that reignited City's play off hopes. The first was a fine team goal from open play whilst the second was a stunning volley making it 11 for the season. After Sunday's disappointing result against the Swans the atmosphere was distinctly muted before kick-off and the fans had more bad news to digest with it being revealed McNally is out for this season &am...

SWANSEA [H] the verdict ..... no surprise at the outcome !! 10.02.2025

Another glorious chance to secure 6th place, if only for a few days, gone in a game that started well enough and would have seen us out of sight were it not for two fine saves from the Swans keeper. That being said the visitors had two goal chances themselves which better sides would have seen punish our defensive openness.  We huffed & puffed after Swansea took the lead but to no avail a...

OXFORD [A] the verdict .... 9 man City fight for a share of the spoils 02.02.2025

DaveP is joined by Neil Sutton, & the Toveys [Dave & Mark] discussing a 90 minutes where referee Oliver Langford's awful performance was the subject of much chat. A free kick to savour with no Twine involvement brought back memories of the weasel routine at Selhurst Park in 2008. The goal conceded - down to Max or should the still off colour Dickie take some blame? Earthy blew his big oppo...

BLACKBURN [H] the verdict..... Twiney special and vintage Wells strike secure the win 26.01.2025

That result gives us the 6th best home record and the dying embers of playoff contention flicker once again or am I being optimistic? Blackburn were decent opposition and at one point in the 2nd half it looked like they were going to overwhelm City. The subs made for City's best period of the game after Well's goal and City closed out the action without too many scares. There were some good indivi...

SHEFF WED [A] the verdict .... coming twice from behind was commendable but .... 23.01.2025

For the first hour of this game City were atrocious beyond belief but you have to give them credit for twice coming from behind and they might even have got all three points if Bell's shot hadn't hit the cross bar in time added on. DaveP discusses the action with two other Daves' - Tovey & Fevs Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

COVENTRY [A] the verdict ..... lack lustre display but hey, it's just an away game !!! 19.01.2025

DaveP, Neil Sutton, Dave & Mark Tovey review a disappointing performance at the CBS Arena. Two poor sides with the decisive goal coming from a striker who'd hardly inspired his home fans since joining in the summer. Feel sorry for the travelling 3k fans and suggest they spend their money differently going forward when we have a manager who thinks performances like this are acceptable as genera...

WOLVES [H] the verdict ..... early cup exit in "curate's egg" performance 12.01.2025

Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

DERBY [H] the verdict.... McNally goal sets City up for 20 game play off push 05.01.2025

DaveP reviews the game with Neil Sutton, Dave "the Turtle" Tovey & Mark Tovey Scott Twine's perfectly flighted free kick was converted by McNally's deft touch and it proved to be the decisive strike in a game City deserved to win by a more convincing scoreline. Derby were a more savvy side than recent opponents at Ashton Gate and twice in the first half City had to rely on instinctive saves fr...

PLYMOUTH [A] the verdict .... another late goal conceded but, on reflection, the draw a fair result? 02.01.2025

DaveP, Les, Mark & Dave T debate the game against basement club Plymouth which saw City twice take the lead with a late equaliser denying them all three points. A decent performance but questionable substitute timings Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

PORTSMOUTH [H] the verdict ...... back to back wins, two clean sheets, hopes raised 30.12.2024

A three goal blast in 20 first half minutes put City in complete control against a Pompey side who had started the game by resting a number of players from the side that had so convincingly won at Fratton Park only 22 days previously. Mehmeti scored a brace and with more composure might have got his hat-trick instead of volleying over the bar. The back 3 of Vyner, Dickie & McNally looked...

Luton [H] the verdict .... are you not entertained?! 27.12.2024

The first half was nothing short of a borefest but then Twine does what he does best with a pile driver into the roof of the net from 20 yards to give City an early 2nd half advantage. If Bell had shown more positional awareness his goal would have stood and given City a margin of victory their superiority over a very lacklustre Luton side. DaveP is joined by Dave Tovey, Tom Sutton & Paul Hunt...

WBA [A] the verdict ..... some people thought the season was over, it is now!! 22.12.2024

City were woeful in the pouring rain at the Hawthorns and at no time in the game did they offer anything by way of a sustained period of pressure. The apathy, lack of desire, call it what you will was epitomised when with 10 minutes remaining the ball broke kindly for McCrorie who embarked on a surging run only to stop and check before laying the ball sideways as nobody joined him. 5 points from 2...

Mid-season Review 2024/25 19.12.2024

Time for an assessment of how we're doing on the cusp of the half way point of the season. DaveP is joined by Gary Owers, Tom Hicks & Ellie Jones. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

QPR [H] the verdict ..... Max howler costs City dear as two points dropped [again!] 15.12.2024

By & large City played some decent football but all they had to show for an hour of total dominance with a stunning free kick strike by Twine who came off the bench to score with his first touch. The lead lasted 5 minutes before MAX made his error of judgement and City were never in at after that as QPR grew in confidence. 5 points from the last 6 games is a poor return for some decent footbal...

SUNDERLAND [A] the verdict ....... so near yet so far 11.12.2024

By itself a 1-1 draw away to Sunderland is a good result. Coming off the back of a dreadful performance at Portsmouth there was no faulting the effort of the lads, particularly in the second half, but to lose two points through an injury time equaliser means its just 4 points from 15 and a real challenge for the play offs now depends on stringing together at least a 3 game winning sequence - can w...

PORTSMOUTH [A] the verdict .... rock bottom performance against basement club 08.12.2024

DaveP, Mark & Ian debate a poor day at the office as City went down 3-0 to basement club Pompey. City gave themselves a mountain to climb after the 2nd Pompey goal early in the second half which, like the first, came about through trying to play out from the back in a manner that seems to be the scourge of English football right now. Overall it was a heartless performance and Sunderland on Tue...

PLYMOUTH [H] the verdict ..... City on the rampage in 2nd half against woeful Argyle 01.12.2024

Few would argue that Wayne Rooney's side would fail to make the shortlist of the poorest teams to play at Ashton Gate in the past 9-10 years. Scoreless at the interval City overpowered their opponents with an opener from Twine, a brace struck with aplomb by Mehmeti and a confidence building strike from much maligned Armstrong in the final minute. DaveP hosts Tom, Mark, Paul & Ian in a review o...

WATFORD [A] the verdict ..... too Cleverley by half, good away form thwarted 27.11.2024

A very good first half where City deserved to be in front but weren't and then in an oh so typical fashion conceded what proved to be the only goal of the game early in the second half which they finished with a whimper save for Twine's long range effort which hit the woodwork. DaveP, Ian & Neil discuss the match action and look forward to the visit of Wayne Rooney's Argyle. Hosted on Acast. S...

BURNLEY [H] the verdict ..... did we deserve anything, why are we falling short? 24.11.2024

DaveP, Ian & Mark discuss the match action at a windswept Ashton Gate where City lost by a single goal to extended the winless home run to 5 games. Max O'Leary wasn't tested much throughout but for us their were two turning points during City's best spell which was in the 2nd half: the poor first touch from Yu when he was put clear by Bell; a better one and surely he would have gone on to scor...

NORWICH [A] the verdict .... well worked goals in near faultless display 10.11.2024

Ian, DaveP, Mark & Neil review the match action at Carrow Road as City entered the last game before the international break on a high. Despite injuries & suspension City's starting line up looked far from weak and they conjured up two classy goals after 15 & 62 minutes. There was not a poor performance anywhere in the team as flair, energy & control were displayed in equal measure....
