Force Ghost Coast to Coast

After teasing it for the better part of 2 months, Liz, Matt, and Brian return with a look at the latest Star Wars anthology book, this time telling stories set in and around The Empire Strikes Back . You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll wonder what it is that you just read.

Brian welcomes fellow Multiversity podcaster Zach Wilkerson to discuss the first novel in the new 'High Republic' era of Star Wars storytelling, Light of the Jedi . The book kicks off an era of stories set 200 years before The Phantom Menace , and if this novel is any indication, it'll be a fun era to dig around in.

A week late, but Matt, Liz, and Brian look back on The Force Awakens on its fifth anniversary. First, they try to take the film as its own entity, and then attempt to analyze it in light of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker . Along the way, we trash Han Solo's dialogue, praise Ben Solo's journey, and universally love the ending.

Multiversity podcaster extraordinaire Zach Wilkerson stops by the show to help Liz, Matt, and Brian properly send off the second season of The Mandalorian . Topics discussed include: the future of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars TV, if we will ever see Grogu again, and the three upcoming spinoff series.

Aside from The Bad Batch , which we totally to mention, Liz, Matt, and Brian break down all the known Star Wars film and television projects, including Hayden Christensen's return as Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi , the anime inspired Star Wars: Visions , and the untitled Taika Watiti film.

Friend of the show and Multiversity podcaster Greg Matiasevich stops by the show, spurred by a text he sent Brian earlier in the week. The old chums discuss fan edits of films, specifically Star Wars films, and Greg fills Brian in on his proposed edit of the sequel trilogy, tentatively titled Ashes of the Empire . 

Matt, Liz, and Brian convene on the unofficial start of the holiday season to talk about the brand new Lego Star Wars Holiday Special . This special has everything: jokes, fun post- Rise of Skywalker ideas, Lando, everything .

Inspired by our reading of From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back , Matt, Liz, and Brian pick three different characters, settings, and concepts that we would like to see more Star Wars stories tackle. From droids to Jedi, minor characters to data collection techniques, we go up and down the galaxy far, far away for a bunch of new ideas.

Goran Backman of Pixomondo joins Brian to discuss some of the visual effects that went into The Mandalorian , including crafting some practical/digital combinations, working in The Volume, and how to make something 'look like Star Wars .'

Matt, Liz, and Brian find new respect for The Phantom Menace after being subjected to Attack of the Clones . Topics discussed include: Anakin's trunk full of red flags, Obi-Wan's Yacht Rock/Son of God look, small creatures having ridiculous abilities, and some of the best scoring of the prequels.

The gang convenes over the internet to watch the prequels together, starting with The Phantom Menace, natch. Come for the terrible racism and dated looking special effects, stay for only fully understanding Padmé after reading a book written 20 years after this film premiered! 

The gang reconvenes to talk about both the best and worst seasons of The Clone Wars . Topics discussed include Maul's surprising depth, racist snakes, the tragedy of the younglings, and Ahsoka doing the right thing.

In a special bonus episode, Brian welcomes his old college roommate, Ed Kelly, onto the show to discuss The Rise of Skywalker and the state of Star Wars after the Skywalker Saga wraps up.
