Job 7:1–21, Job, in his misery, gets very personal in his complaining against God. John 4:7–26, a well, a mountain, the Jews, the Samaritans.

Job 6:14–30, Job continues his harsh criticism of his inept friends. John 3:22–4:6, John testifies again about Jesus, that He is the one who is coming after him, who is much greater than him, and uses many of the same words and images that Jesus Himself used with Nicodemus in yesterday‘s reading.

Job 6:1–13, Job responds to Eliphaz, defending the rashness of his own words, and complaining about the banality of Eliphaz’s words. John 3:1–21, earthly things, and flesh, heavenly things, and the Spirit; unless you are born again of water and the Spirit, all this is forever beyond you.

Job 5:1–27, Eliphaz continues his response to Job’s complaint, which he takes as a criticism of God‘s justice. Affliction doesn’t happen for no reason at all, he argues: people reap what they sow! John 2:13–25, Jesus cleanses the temple, and identifies his own body as the true temple of the Lord.

Job 4:1–21, the first of Job’s friends answers Job with a fairly simplistic view of things: If you’re innocent, you have nothing to worry about. If you perish, it’s because you weren’t innocent! John 2:1–12, Jesus turns water into wine, The first of seven precursor signs to his own resurrection.

Job 3:11–26, Job raises is a number of very challenging questions for people who believe in a loving God. John 1:35–51, the handoff between John the Baptist in Jesus begins.

Job 2:1–3:10, Job is afflicted with tremendous physical illness, his wife encourages him to curse God, and Job himself laments that he was ever born. John, 1: 19–34, we are introduced to John the Baptist, whose witness that Jesus is the Christ, who brings the kingdom of God is pivotal in all four gospels.

Job 1: 1–22, we are introduced to the righteous Job, and the scoffer Satan. John, 1: 1–18, the magisterial prologue of the gospel of John, concerning the word that was God, the word that became flesh.

Zechariah 14:1–21, Zachariah describes the future of God‘s people in the end times, using the language of a prophet living in sixth century BC Israel. Titus 2:7–3:15, Paul exhorts Titus to pastor God‘s people to do good works, and reminds them of the power of their baptism.

Zachariah 12:1–13:9, God will give Israel a spirit of morning so that they will realize what they have done to their own God by the faithlessness. This pattern will be repeated again with Jesus, another instance where God‘s own people reject him. Titus 1: 1–2:6, The need for elders who can teach sound doctrine well, and the need to live a righteous life, so that the word of God may not be reviled.

Zachariah 11:4–17, two parables about the tumultuous relationship between the Lord and his people, told us that the Lord were a shepherd, and the people were a flock who despised him! 2 Timothy 4:1–18, Paul’s last words that we have recorded, looking forward to wearing the crown of righteousness.

Zachariah 10:1–11:3, God intends to make his people Judah into a mighty army that conquers the world, because God is with them. 2 Timothy 3: 1 – 17, the growing corruption of human character, and the profitableness of the sacred scriptures for all things pertaining to the Christian life.

Zachariah 9:1–17, God will deal with Israel’s enemies and stand guard over Judah, meanwhile, Israel’s king is coming to them, humble, riding on a donkey, and he will be peace to Israel, and to the nations. 2 Timothy 2:1–26, Paul, in a dungeon, and soon to be executed, had concern for the continuation of the faith, And continues to mentor his disciple Timothy, on how to be a good pastor.

Zachariah 8:1–23, the Lord continues to answer the delegation from Bethel that wanted to know whether they should continue to fast over the destruction of Jerusalem, now that the second temple is nearly complete. He also speaks of the nations coming to Jerusalem, to seek the Lord. 2 Timothy 1:1–18, in Paul’s final letter before his execution, he encourages Timothy to guard the good deposit of soun...

Zachariah 6:1–7: 14, vision of four chariots; Joshua the high priest is a type of the future priest-king Jesus; and a delegation from Bethel wants to know if they should keep fasting. Romans 16:17–27, Paul concludes his magisterial letter to the Romans.

Zachariah 4:1–5:11, we are introduced to Zerubbabel, the civil governor in Jerusalem, and the grandson of Jehoiachin, the last legitimate King of the house of David before the exile. Romans 15:14–33, Paul talks about his plans as a minister to the Gentiles and his hopes to visit Rome soon.

Zachariah 2:1–3:10, a new and revitalized Jerusalem, fit for the return of the remaining exiles and the entry of all the nations, and a new and restored priesthood. Romans 15:1–13, the Christians duty to fellow Christians, and the common destiny of Jews and gentiles in the kingdom of God.

Zachariah 1: 1–21, we are introduced to one of the three postexilic prophets, Zachariah, who, together with Haggai and Malachi preached to the exiles who had returned. Will look at what it means that Zachariah is an apocalyptic work. Romans 14:1–23, the meaning of the word adiaphoron. Or, as Paul says, We do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food!

Joel 3:1–21, God‘s judgment on the unbelieving nations, and the future glory of the people of Israel. Romans 12:14–13: 14, Saint Paul exhorts Christians, upon whom much mercy has been bestowed on account of Christ, to live humbly, to be obedient to the civil authorities, and to love one another

Joel 2:18–32, how God blesses those who return to him, notwithstanding their sin! And how God intends to bless all of Israel, and all the world, by the outpouring of his Holy Spirit before the final judgment comes! Romans 11:25–12:13, Paul shows us how “all Israel“ is to be saved.

Joel 2:1-17, the day of the Lord – the day, when God acts in judgment – May yet be averted, if the people return to the Lord, their God. Romans 11:1–24, God has not rejected all of Israel, and those That are rejected have not been rejected permanently. Both Jews and Gentiles will stand by faith in Jesus Christ, or will be rejected by God, because they have no faith in Jesus Christ.

Joel 1: 1–20, a plague of locusts as a call to repentance. Romans 10:1–21, in order to be saved, one must believe. In order to believe, one must hear. In order to hear, one must hear about Christ. Faith doesn’t save, Jesus saves. “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ”.

Ezekiel 47:1–14, 21–23, the river of life which flows from the temple, and the common allotment of the land to Israelites, and to those Gentles who adjourn with them. Romans 9:19– 33, who will bring the blessings of the covenant, and who receives them. The first, is a matter of God’s choice, the second is a gift of God to be received by faith.

Ezekiel 44:1–16, 23–29, Ezekiel continues to discuss Israel’s glorious future in terms of the restored temple and restored priesthood. Romans 9:1–18, Paul begins a lengthy discussion of the relationship between the Jews, the Torah of Moses, and the New Testament people under Jesus of Nazareth.

Ezekiel 40:1–4; 43:1–12, Ezekiel sees a vision of Israel’s future glory in the presence of their God. The image is of a new and perfect temple, in which the glory of God dwells. Romans 8:18–39, Paul describes that this present creation, subjected to futility, is destined for redemption and glory and total restoration. And we, too, as the children of God, with it!
