The wife has returned from her adventures and there’s a break in the horrendous weather conditions. I’ve popped out for a night before the next weather front moves in tomorrow morning with heavy rain. It certainly goes to show you that all lakes fish differently from each other or it is just my luck! However, I’ve never caught in heavy rainy conditions and I generally don’t bother with wet weather...

Day 1 is mostly set up, Baiting up.

With another teacher’s strike buggering up my plans to do a couple of nights, I decided that an overnighter would be a solution to my situation – as long as I’m home before the wife heads off to work, so I can look after the kids. With a dentist appointment at 4 pm, I couldn’t get down the lake until about 6 pm but this gave me plenty of time to find a swim and get things sorted before dark.

I’m home all week as my wife’s away for work and I’ve switched around my 3 working days, so I can get out for a day session. I wasn’t that successful doing days when this syndicate first opened, but I’ve learned a lot in these 9 years of fishing on here and I’m hoping that something will happen over the course of the 5 hours I’m here.

Firstly, I must thank my wife and kids for letting me out during the last few days of their Easter holidays. It’s week fifteen of the year and I’ve just only starting trip 10. I try to average 1 trip a week but this year hasn’t gotten off to a great start. We still have 37 weeks to go, so I better not write this year off just yet! It's that time of the year again, and I'm back on the Airfield Lake. It's been open for two weeks, but as it fishes hard, the carp have fed on naturals all winter. I stuck with Meadow Lake for a couple more trips - the 40mph plus winds help me decide as well. It's very open here, you are very exposed to the elements.

I’m back down the lake a lot earlier than I had planned, my normal Tuesday job was cancelled, so it was an opportunity to get back down the lake.
