What appeared to be Jesus’ greatest defeat was actually His greatest victory. No obstacle has ever been able to stop Him. Two thousand years ago, Jesus defeated the grave, and He is still undefeated today. Revelation 5:5 reminds us: “And he will reign forever and ever.” (NLT). When we live like Him and for Him, nothing can defeat us. His victory is our victory.

We live in a broken world that often enslaves us to a life that’s far less than what God created us to live. As 2 Peter 2:19 declares, “For you are a slave to whatever controls you (NLT). God, however, wants to set us free from anything that keeps us from really living. He wants to set us free from our baggage, worries, stress, hopelessness, brokenness, despair, and sin. As we kick off 2026, we’re...

No one could have predicted that Jesus would come in the way He did. The circumstances surrounding His birth were unexpected, scandalous, and even chaotic. But every detail of His birth was all part of God’s plan. The good news of Jesus’ birth isn’t just that He came but how He came. How Jesus came reveals why He came. The way He came reveals the true character and mission of God. Join us this Sun...

The church is God’s instrument to change the world. The missional reach of First Church extends well beyond The 918. It crosses international borders and reaches people in some of the most difficult situations on Earth. On December 1, Beyond Sunday will highlight and celebrate what God is doing through local and global missions partners and the members of First Church.

A base camp is a necessary checkpoint needed to reach the summit. Following Jesus isn’t a one-time decision but a lifelong journey with Him. The longer we follow Him, the more He transforms our lives. But sometimes we need to hit pause and make sure He’s leading and we’re following. In the "Base Camp" series and in our corresponding small groups, we’re pausing to breathe, examine the cli...
