Have you ever seen something ugly within yourself? Here's the thing: God knows all about what hinders you. He sees you and loves you. And He sent His Son to redeem you. But He didn't stop there. Because not only do you need redemption, you also need something else. And that something else is what we talk about today.

What makes Jesus mad? Have you ever thought about that? When he got mad, he started turning over tables in the temple. As people who have received the promise of the new covenant, we are now the temple of God. If Jesus entered his temple today, what tables would he turn over?

From the beginning of time, God has desired to dwell with his creation. We saw this in the garden, the Tabernacle, the Temple, the incarnation of Jesus, and now, the indwelling of the Spirit of God. We, the church, are the house of God and members of that household. And that theological truth leads us to be hospitable.

Oftentimes we feel like the way that society is headed is completely in the wrong direction. But if history is any indication, if what Jesus said is any indication, this isn't something that should surprise us. But as the church, we are called to be separate from the world. In it but not of it. This is not our home. We are strangers in a strange land called to proclaim the praises of Jesus.

We are a people of hope guarded by God's power through faith. We hope together but we don't hope in each other. We have a living hope in Jesus. And because we are a people of hope, we can flourish in the face of anything this life throws at us.

At salvation not only are we clothed with Christ and given a robe of righteousness, but we are also given armor. This armor is for a real but invisible war that is raging. Scripture tells us to put on that armor and stand firm for the fight.
