The writer of Hebrews focuses on the position of Christ as Son of God and Son of man. Pastor David takes us through this passage and through Psalm 8 as we focus on the wonder and grace of Christ as our Lord.

Though the world finds offense in Christ and the cross, there has been a long-standing infatuation with angels. The supernatural always intrigues. The writer of Hebrews addresses the position of Christ over the angels, as the second person of the Trinity and fully God. Christ's superiority is declared throughout Scripture.

We begin our series in the book of Hebrews today. We will also be looking at the book of Leviticus throughout this series as these two books are greatly connected. Today...the supremacy of Christ is clearly declared in the passage.

What does the Bible say about church membership? Pastor David and Pastor Mike share the pulpit on this Sunday addressing the concept of local church membership from a biblical perspective.

In what seems like a postscript to Paul's first letter to Timothy, God gives a great warning and reminder to his church. The temptations of idolatry abound, and earthly wealth remains at the front of the list. This warning is needed and loving. Grace to you.

"But as for you..." is how Paul begins this section of his letter to Timothy. The Holy Spirit's guidance in this is clear and the personal heart-check is needed. So goes the shepherd...so go the sheep. Yet, this is for every Christian. So...how are you?

The warnings about seeking money as a satisfier of life are rampant in scripture. Paul addresses this and reminds Timothy and the church that the desire for more always leaves us lacking. Godliness does lead to gain, but not in a prosperity gospel manner.

What exactly does the Bible say about slavery? Paul's two verses in chapter six of his letter to Timothy must be read in a larger narrative of scripture to fully understand.

The office of pastor should be one of integrity and respect. Yet, today it is considered one of the least respected by many. This is due to wolves who have used the church for their own gain and have disqualified themselves. Sadly, many have been harmed by pastors who should not pastor. Yet, there are some who should. What must the church do regarding them? How should these men of God be treated?...

How should the church treat widows and what does Paul mean when he says "widows who are truly widows?"

How are older men and women to be treated in the church family? What about younger men and women? Paul's instructions to Timothy are clear and timeless.

Perhaps the most popular verse for youth ministries in past decades is in this section of scripture. However, Paul was not writing about a youth group, though the application is good. This message is clearly for the young pastor and for the congregation regarding continued qualified service within the church.

Grace is free, but godliness is costly. Pastor Mike Godfrey leads us through 1 Timothy 4:6-10 as Paul instructed Timothy to invest wisely for godliness for the return on investment is priceless.

In the latter days (which we are now experiencing) there will be those who leave the faith, those who buy into false doctrine, and those who who become legalistic in their self-focus. This has been true since the early church days and even now in the age of Christian deconstructionism, it remains. But what is the church to do? Pastor David addresses that in our latest sermon from 1 Timothy.

Do you love the church? Do you love the church like Jesus loves the church? Universal church or local church? Paul's devotion for Christ and his church is clear and the challenge is for each follower of Christ to do the same.

Paul gives Timothy God's requirements for those who can serve as deacons in the local church. This passage clearly gives the qualifications of the man serving in the role and reminds the reader that what often has become deacon roles in the local church are not biblical roles.

This section of Paul's letter gives clear qualifications for the men called to serve as pastor (overseer, elder) in the local church. Yet, it is not simply a list to be checked off, as some have seen.

Are there unique roles for men and women within the church? God addresses this in Paul's letter to Timothy and the answer is clear, though many have sought to declare it unclear. Truly this passage is less about men and women and more about God. We would be wise to remember that.

Paul addresses the need for prayer among God's people. Prayer fuels our proclamation of the truth and results in praise for the Lord. This truly is for his glory and our good.

As we finish chapter one of 1 Timothy, we focus on God's reminder through paul that the gospel is worth defending and false teachers are to be removed from fellowship. It is a hard truth, but truth nonetheless.

If you were to list the top ten evil people in the history of the world, who would be at the top of your list? Paul made such a list and never went past the number one spot. The person he placed in that spot is one that most would not consider. Once the number one spot was filled, the reality of God's grace becomes clear.

Pastor Mike Godfrey continues in our series through the book of 1 Timothy. This passage focuses on Paul's instructions regarding the Law and the lawlessness that so easily entangles believers and the confusion that comes when false teachers arrive. The call to godliness and holiness is clear.
