Jesus took his disciples to a city just south of the Lebanon border. At this city, known for worship of the Greek god Pan and the Roman Caesar, he asked the question of them "Who do people say that I am?" Then, he asked the pointed and vital question, "Who do you say I am?" That question must still be answered today by each of us.

Jesus warns his disciples about the leaven of the Sadducees and Pharisees (which are alive and well today) and the men totally missed Jesus' point. Sometimes we can relate and need to be told once more. Christ clarifies his message, if we would just listen.

Easter is a celebration of life. It's also the celebration of death - the death of hopelessness and meaninglessness. You never know what you may find on Easter. Better yet, you may even be found.

Sometimes a story can be so familiar that the nuances and depth presented are often missed. That is the case with the story of Jesus' "Triumphal Entry." Was this entry into Jerusalem prior to the crucifixion actually "triumphant?"

When the external is all that one focuses upon, the internal remains empty. It is at this point, fake religion and morality arises. Yet, there's hope and in one of the strangest statements ever made by Christ, he declares that those who truly are part of his family are the ones who know and do the will of the Father. This strips away all the trappings of fake faith.

Can a non-Christian be moral? Can morality be more dangerous than immorality? The answer to both questions is YES. This passage (that is often misinterpreted) speaks to the dangers of self-righteous morality and the wrong-headed focus on attempting simply to get everyone to behave apart from the transforming power of the Gospel.
