Stephen continues in his sermon before the High Priest and the ruling council prior to his martyrdom. Here, he speaks of the calling of Moses. Pastor David Tarkington looks at these verses in Acts and speaks on the drawing of the Holy Spirit and the value of a wilderness experience in the life of a believer.

Stephen looks to the first two-thirds of the life of Moses in his sermon/speech to the religious leaders prior to his martyrdom. This verse (25) speaks of the sadness and urgency of missing God's message - "He supposed that his brothers would understand that God was giving them salvation by his hand, but they did not understand."

Stephen continues in his response to the High Priest with a story about Jospeh from the Old Testament. This story was a precursor fo that of Christ. A Savior is still needed.

When Stephen faced the Sanhedrin prior to his martyrdom, he schooled the religious leaders by reciting God's plan from the days of Abraham to the present. How did he know these stories? Certainly the Holy Spirit inspired this sermon, but Stephen also was obviously well-learned. As a church we seek to equip and disciple each generation for the glory of God and our good.

Pastor David Tarkington preaches from Acts 6 and speaks of the man named Stephen. Stephen sought to live like Christ. He ended up dying like Christ. For all Christians, to live is Christ and to die is gain. But...we had better understand fully what this means.
