So...who goes to heaven? Good people? The sacrifice of Christ is prophesied in Isaiah 52 and it is the culmination of the plan for redemption. Good people do not go to heaven, but the justified ungodly people (and all people are ungodly apart from Christ) are the redeemed ones. Pastor David Tarkington speaks on this reality and why it is so difficult to love people as Christ does.

You cannot move forward if you only stare in your rearview mirror. Behold, God is doing a new thing...do you not see it?

With all the uncertainty that defines our world, the meaning of truth is vital. Isaiah gives God's words to the people of God who are living in dire circumstances...due to their own sin. Yet, he reminds them of God's goodness and his plans for his children to never leave, abandon, nor forsake them. Fear not.

God gives Isaiah words of woe to his children in the northern kingdom. It is a terrible and terrific prophetic word and one that could be said to the church today. Those with ears to hear...be sure to listen.

In Isaiah 12 God reminds us that his grace is so good, so overwhelming, so right. It truly is amazing grace.

When Jonathan Edwards preached "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" it shocked many. Yet, it spurred the Great Awakening of the day and God used his message to bring many to repentance. Isaiah was God's mouthpiece, his prophet to his people who were living in sin and rebellion to him. The God of love is also a God of judgment. Thankfully, he provides a Way and that Way is Christ.

Isaiah presents King Ahaz of Judah an incredible opportunity by God. Yet, the king refuses. Thus, comes the prophecy of the virgin giving birth to a son who would be called "God with us." Both Isaiah's son and the eventual birth of Jesus Christ are foretold here, for God's glory and our good...if we would just not respond like Ahaz.

Isaiah enters into the temple and is shown a vision of God that would frighten and overwhelm anyone. The entire episode reveals God's call upon the prophet's life and shows how his call upon our lives brings him glory.

God gives Isaiah a word for the people illustrated by a vineyard that produces wild, bad grapes. The question is "Who is to blame?" Since we are blamers by nature, many would say God (the vinedresser) but God makes no mistakes. This chapter looks at the deep grace of God that offers life, love, and hope to all the undeserving people (which is all people.)

How does one see a voice? God spoke to the prophet Isaiah and the Scripture reveals that he saw the word of the Lord. The message given to the prophet was now received well by Isaiah's people, but it was needed, just as it is today. God still speaks, but do we hear him? Are we listening? Before we go and tell, we must stop and listen.

The Acts of the Apostles comes to an end in chapter 28, but the mandate for the church continues. The question is "Will we be faithful even if the harvest is not immediate? Even if it is not in our generation?"

We must stop saying "no" for people regarding Christ prior to even sharing. This sermon covers chapters 25 and 26 in Acts with a focus on Acts 26:24-29.

As Paul awaits trial in Jerusalem his nephew hears of a plot to have him killed. Then, the undercover, escape at night with 200 soldiers is underway. It's an amazing story, but ultimately the theme is centered on God, his glory, his story, and how seemingly insignificant things (and people) can make major impacts. The same is true for Christians today, if we would just believe.

Dr. Jeff Iorg is the President of Gateway Seminary in California. As one of our six Southern Baptist Seminaries, Gateway is serving the Lord well by training students in the ministry who will serve his church globally. Dr. Iorg preached at FBCOP on this day from Colossians 3.

Paul declared that he had lived his life "before God in all good conscience up to this day." In the face of severe trials and accusations, Paul showed that his character and actions as a Christ-follower matched his stated faith. We can all learn from this, especially in an era where character no longer seems to matter to many.

The Lord's Supper is one of the ordinances of the church, but as vital and important as it is for the church, often it just becomes routine. Associate Pastor Brian Borden shares from 1 Corinthians 11 about the biblical requirement to partake in a worthy manner.

Paul, under arrest in Jerusalem, gives his testimony to the mob who desired him dead. Then, Paul reveals his citizenship in Rome and it changes everything for him during this dire time.

When Paul was rescued from the mob in Jerusalem he was asked by the Roman commander who he was. After some confusion about his identity, he was able to share not only who he was, but whose he was. This message centers on knowing our identity in Christ and how vital this is.

When a mob grew in Jerusalem and sought to kill Paul, God rescued him. Yet, the motivations of those who attempted to rid the world of Paul are very revealing. So much so, that their fear-based, lie-believing, mob-mentality actions can (and are) often replicated today in the church.

When Paul arrived in Jerusalem he shared with the church there that many Gentiles had become Christians. The church glorified this publicly, but were still wrestling with the fact that those whom they were opposed to prior were now brothers and sisters in Christ. They also were believing rumors about Paul's teachings thus creating a potential wedge of disunity in the church. Competition, distrust,...
