In this message we explore the example of serving others Jesus established during his ministry.  We also look at the reasons we place an emphasis on serving our community as a community of believers.

This week in our Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands we traveled on the Via Dolorosa where Jesus endured shame, suffering, and became our sacrifice so that we could have salvation.

This week in our Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands we traveled to Caesera Phillip where Jesus went out of his way with his disciples to go to this part of Israel with a dark history linked to dark acts of worship.  Jesus affirms his Messiahship and proclaims that his future kingdom, which we are part of, will conquer the darkness.

This week in our Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands we traveled to Capernaum where Jesus spent a majority of his ministry.  We look at the differences between the truths taught by Rabbi’s and His Truth and the difference that makes in the lives of people then and now.

This week in our Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands we focused on the MIKVAH’s that are found in Israel, we journeyed through the Old Testament and and God’s use of story and symbolism to help us understand baptism and why its something that is important to us as Christians today.

As we continue our pilgrimage through the Holy Lands we make a stop at the hills of Bethlehem where so much history has happened and examine the repeated theme in this area of people whose stories started in the outer reachers but were brought into the center of important stories that are central to our faith and the way we live.

A pilgrimage is a journey, often into an unknown or foreign place, where a person goes in search of new or expanded meaning about their self, others, and revolves around visiting either sites significant in the Bible. It’s fascinating to see all the parallels and how the ministries of Elisha points forward to the time when the will of God would be revealed uniquely and fully through the person of Jesus Christ.  In this weeks message we look at the way Jesus was called to be like Elisha, and how we are called to be like Jesus.

Naaman comes to Elisha to be healed of leprosy.  We are reminded through this story that at times we need to be patient enough to go through God’s process to experience his promise.

In 2 Kings 4:8-17 we lean about the story of a Shunamite woman who had compassion of Elisha and took care of him during his travels, eventually Elisha was able to repay her kindness with a miracle child. In this message we learn to look for the needs of others and fill them.

In 2 Kings 4 we read about the story of a woman who is focused on the things she doesn’t have after losing a lot. Elisha helps her to see, and use what she does have. God then does a miracle of turning what little she has into a lot.

In 2 Kings 3 Elisha is asked to rescue three kings who have gotten themselves into some trouble. Through Elisha, God gives instructions to dig ditches and wait. In this sermon we explore what happens after they are given those instructions. From this story we learn how we need to respond when God gives up instructions - even if they don't always make sense.

The week we look at 2 Kings 2:1-15 and focus on Elisha's request for the double portion of the Spirit of the Lord before he is taken up. The question we leave with is what 'Double Portion' type prayers will you ask God for.
