Faithful is the Word

For many, praying is not fun. It can be awkward sometimes, especially if you don't know what you are doing. But the joy from praying isn't in the act but the object of our prayers. That is what we are going to uncover in this message.

Many don't pray because they feel intimidated, especially in public. The truth is that prayer is so powerful and essential that God has done everything possible to remove every excuse why we shouldn't pray. That is the purpose of this message.

One of the worst trades that a Christian can make is to exchange their peace IN Christ for performance FOR Christ. When we sow this kind of truth and thinking, we reap a troubled heart that is never satisfied. The only answer is to turn to Jesus, for He is the only source of peace that is permanent despite our problems.

Prayer is essential when following Christ, especially when we lose our way because of confusion. During those moments, we must remember where the source of our faithfulness lies.

It is getting harder to experience authentic life in Christ in a growingly artificial world. In this message, we see three things that Paul prayed that we need as well if we desire to experience authentic spiritual maturity.

Difficulties can be blessings in disguise when we choose to TRUST in Christ in prayer, even despite present pain. That is the only way we can receive comfort for our souls.

We take things for granted when we become forgetful to be grateful. That is why Paul strived to guard his gratitude of heart towards God's grace towards him and others. Our prayers will have a great affect when they are grounded in gratefulness towards God's grace.

A lot of attention is usually given on Holy Week to the crucifixion and the resurrection because Jesus remained dead in between those moments. There is nothing to learn from that space, right? Pause and listen to what the silence in between both events has to say to us today.

Many have expressed feelings of being far from God. But no one experienced it the way Jesus did so that all who believe in Him will never have to.

In Jesus' most vulnerable moment during His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, we are given a glimpse of something Christ had to face so that we would never have to.

On the night of Jesus' betrayal, the disciples learned an important lesson the hard way on the importance of prayer when it comes to responding to temptation.  We must learn from their experience so that we can discover true hope and freedom in Christ today.

The biggest problem that people have when they pray for God's will is that they have their own will which they would prefer.  The reality is that the closer you hold on to your will the farther you end up from God's.  That is why we must understand the cost that comes from wanting to live in God's will.  Hint:  It's worth the price.

The problem with our prayers is that they are more concerned with the things of this world versus the things of God.  That is why praying for God's Kingdom to come is more important than you think.  It has a great impact on our spiritual and mental health when we understand what the kingdom of God is and begin to pray for it to come!

As I've preached throughout the book of Acts, I have been amazed to see how God repurposes pain and difficulties.  If we trust in God's Word like Paul did, we can see God repurpose our pain so that we can better point others to Jesus!
