We’ve been working through a Christmas message from Isaiah 52-53. The Servant described is not Israel, but Jesus Christ himself. If it’s talking about Jesus Christ, then the true spirt of Christmas doesn’t come from a warring spirit but a spirt of sacrifice. We find the humble servant who is giving his life for a cause.

How many of us have heard phrases like these? Just follow your heart. Just do it. You be you! Be a better you. All you need is love. But how foolish it is to follow the wisdom of the world and ignore the Biblical view of man.

We defined a disciple as someone who lovingly follows Jesus and intentionally helps others to follow him. We are encouraged not to follow the ways of the world but God's word, which is the sole faith and authority. Not tradition. God is the source of Truth and is everlasting. It is absolute, constant. There's a universal truth that will always be true and withstand man's traditions.

What is the mark of a disciple? Somebody who abides in the Word. The Word of God has to be a part of a disciple's life. How much are you in the Word?
