Simon was a Samaritan who was healed and began to follow Jesus Christ. But even after his conversion, he still had a lot to learn about grace.

Why are you fasting? As we begin our series, we must examine if our actions match what we profess. As we practice seeking this Lent, what kind of fast will you choose? How will you live your faith? How will you live the questions of your faith?

Change is at hand. We want more than anything to keep things the same, but change is even a part of our Christian faith. Peter learns that sometimes he has to be willing to change in order to draw others closer to God. For faith to grow, we have to be open to change and reform.

Our faith cannot grow all by itself, but it flourishes in relationships. Within healthy relationships, we learn about God, practice our faith and hold each other accountable.

Time is our most precious resource, and it may be the resource that we take for granted the most. Jesus tells the disciples that the Kingdom of God is at hand, and when it comes to discipleship we should not waste time, for we never know when we may see God face to face.

God calls us to do things that are far outside of our comfort zone. Sometimes we are called to take risks and to be vulnerable. But if we want our relationship with God to grow we have to be willing to take these leaps and put our trust in God's plan.

As Presbyterians, we are not always comfortable talking about the Holy Spirit. Jesus called the  Holy Spirit a "helper who will continue to witness to the truth." As disciples we are called to find ways to stop, look, and listen for the Holy Spirit working around us. Because we are different people, we will hear the voice of the spirit in different ways.

We are called to pray, but many of us are still uncomfortable with praying in public or even praying on our own. How can we be more disciplined to pray daily as Jesus commands?

We are called to read scripture, but often the Bible remains hidden on our bookshelves. The first step to spiritual growth is intentionally reading the Bible and listening for God's voice in scripture.

The magi went seeking for a king. Joseph, Mary and Jesus sought safety in Egypt. Each of them because they heard from God and responded. How can we listen for God in 2023 and seek to live as God leads?

On Christmas Eve we light the Christ Candle. This candle is the last light of the Advent Wreath and it is the light that goes with us everywhere in the world. Hope, peace, joy and love may ebb and flow in our lives, but the light of Christ is never extinguished.

Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth during her pregnancy and Elizabeth recognizes that Mary will be the mother of a very special child. They see the grace of God in each other, and as the family of faith we should resemble the grace of God, too.

Joseph is called a righteous man because he followed the law of God. But the angel gives him a choice that might question his reputation. Joseph's righteousness is bestowed upon him not by maintaining the expectations of the world, but by following the will of God.

We begin Advent by remembering the generations of Jesus' family and the story that we are called to pass down to future generations.

In the parable of the banquet, Jesus shares that both saints and sinners will set at God's table. God's table is for everyone who accepts the invitation.
