FACETs of Teaching at IU

Barbara White, FACET Class of 2022, is an Assistant Professor and the Assistant Dean of Nursing at IU South Bend. Barbara's area of research is the success of African American nursing students as one path to promote health equity. She seeks ongoing learning and discussion about race and inclusion through the activities at the IU South Bend Civil Rights Heritage Center.

Kathy Berlin, FACET Class of 2022 and Associate Professor of Health Sciences at IUPUI. Her research focuses on the scholarship of teaching, the feasibility of utilizing health education specialists in physician practices, the use of health risk appraisals in the workforce, and the motivations for continued physical activity as individuals’ age.

Meghan Porter, FACET Class of 2021 and Lecturer of Chemistry at IU Bloomington. Porter teaches courses in inorganic and general chemistry, and is especially interested in the development of lab and course assignments involving real-world applications of metals in medicine.

Harold Olivey, FACET Class of 2022 and Clinical Assistant Professor of Biology and Department Chair at IU Northwest. Olivey also serves as the FACET Associate Director for IUN and a member of the 2023 Annual Retreat. He has a passion and dedication for student success and teaching.

Tara Kingsley, FACET Class of 2022 and Assistant Dean and Associate Professor of Education at IU Kokomo. Coming from a family of educators, Tara started her career as a fifth grade school teacher. Demetra Andrews, FACET Class of 2022 and Clinical Associate Professor of Marketing at IUPUI. She is a consumer researcher and focuses primarily on internal and external factors that influence consumer confidence and readiness to act. Andrews holds a Ph. D. in marketing from the University of Houston and an MBA in marketing and finance from University of Texas at Austin.

Mike Polites, FACET Class of 2022 and Teaching Professor of Communication Studies.
