As we consider the death of Abraham's wife, Sarah we considered  1) A portrait of a woman of faith in v. 1. 2) Death visits us all in v. 2 3) Life after death in vv. 3-16. Now, 4) All business, even painful business, can be accomplished in such a way as to glorify God.

Vv. 1-21 form the pericope of Isaac's birth, and the events that surround it. In vv. 1-7 we learn that 1) We need to trust in the plan of the Lord.

Looking at the Sacred Marriage of Abraham and Sarah in this chapter we learn a few lessons along the way. The foolish acts of people may jeopardize God’s program – vv. 20:1-2. God must intervene to preserve his program when his people jeopardize it with foolish deception – 20:3-7. People must make restitution in order to demonstrate their integrity - vv. 8-16 Full restoration comes through prayer...

Looking at the Sacred Marriage of Abraham and Sarah in this chapter we learn a few lessons along the way. The foolish acts of people may jeopardize God’s program – vv. 20:1-2. God must intervene to preserve his program when his people jeopardize it with foolish deception – 20:3-7.

After working through this weighty account of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah there are some important lessons that we need to take to heart. Don't become like Sodom and Gomorrah. Watch your proximity to Sodom. It can be difficult to abandon the mentality of the society once entangled in it and difficult to leave. God hears the prayers of the righteous.
