Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. — A command that feels impossible — which is the clue that we have misunderstood what Paul means by 'rejoice.'

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. — Not anti-intellectual. Not a ban on thinking. The Hebrew verb for 'lean' is physical — it is about where you place your weight when the ground shifts.
