Habakkuk has a conversation with God, and asks the question, why are bad things happening to those you care about?

The final prophecy against Nineveh. Nahum describes the ultimate destruction for the city and it’s people. God’s sovereignty will judge the government’s of man.

People of nations tell themselves so many things based on man’s thinking and not God’s wisdom. Nineveh led itself astray, and was destroyed.

When the government of man opposes the government of God, God says He will oppose that government.

When God’s timing calls for restoration, will we be weak enough to be restored, or strong in our own ramparts?

No more will Judah be subject to the Assyrian rule. There is good news of peace on earth!

Nahum describes God’s power, authority, sovereignty and justice over all creation, including Nineveh.

Nahum begins by telling the people that God is jealous in his love for them, but he will punish sin because he is just.

The world is unfair, and affects all of us unfairly. Abide in Christ, not the world. Avoid the “Diotrephes Complex.”

We receive God’s love and truth (Christ) in faith and humility. It brings God pure joy as we share God’s love and truth towards one another in faith and humility.

We receive God’s love and truth by our faith, as we abide in him, and walk by faith.

Don’t be deceived. God’s love must work together with God’s truth in us, for us to be effective in him.

To deny the truth of God’s word is to deny the knowledge of Jesus Christ. To deny Christ is to deny his power of salvation.

God- because of his love, has mercy on us in our sin, gives us a gospel gift of grace that saves us, and allows us to be forgiven and to have his peace, his presence in our lives. Christ is the person of God, his word and his truth, given to a world of sin and deception. God’s truth is now for each one of us, to dwell in all believers. Love from God can only be expressed with the truth of God.

Tell Jesus returns, man doesn’t see God for who he really is, in his glory. Till Jesus returns, man doesn’t see himself for who he really is. Till God is revealed in his true glory, we don’t see God in his awesome sovereignty. Likewise man doesn’t see himself in his repulsive nature, dead in sin. However, we have a God of hope, steadfast love and forgiveness.

“When I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.” Such comforting words, in such morally corrupt times. Nothing, not even death itself can separate us from the steadfastness of God.

Look to God, not to our culture for your wisdom. Don’t ever take the position that God doesn’t hear you. Pray, he will hear you. Don’t let your faith be based on your own impatience. What for what God will do for you, not what you will do for yourself.

God answers the age old question of what do I need to do, how do I need to live? God condemns injustice, deception, and violence. A powerful message for us today.

What do you have to do to be saved? God says, nothing. It’s not about what we can do. It’s about what he can do for us. The gift of his son, as sacrifice for our sins. It’s Jesus Christ plus nothing else.

God has judged Israel’s sin. The nation is guilty, but God will provide a savior for the whole world, Jesus Christ. Now God gives the nation the opportunity to speak. Micah recalls the prophet Balaam being saved from God’s wrath by his donkey, much like this generation will be saved by Christ.

The prophecy of Jesus birth, his first coming, bringing good news, and the prophecy of his second coming, bringing peace on earth.
