Although he is the eternal Son, Jesus became human and suffered death for the sake of our salvation—fulfilling the glorious destiny that God planned for humanity, leading many to glory.

The Christian lives in the midst of a battle against the devil and his agents. We need to put on and use the full armour that God has given us if we are to stand.

There are two dangers associated with our freedom in Christ. One is that we will forfeit it as we slip into legalism and try to justify ourselves before God; the other is that we will use our freedom as a license from sin. True freedom in the gospel allows no room for either.

As people brought from darkness to light and out of reverence to the Lord, our life together should be marked by appropriate submission and love. This radically shapes Christian marriage and, when functioning properly, causes it to reflect the relationship between Christ and the church.
