For older listeners, or those in a committed relationship, who might not be aware, there are a slew of widely used hookup apps. The  Grindr  app specializes in Gay hookups.

A group called United Sovereign Americans is appearing at city council meetings throughout California. They claim to be a non-partisan election integrity group but a little digging reveals something far different.

Constituent services are a prime responsibility of every elected official. As elections approach, one gauge of a representatives concern and effectiveness is if, and how they respond to constituents.

This fall California voters will have 10 ballot propositions. One will gauge if the Elk Grove mayor and city council are looking out for a large segment of our community. Proposition 33, The Justice for Renters act, reads "The state may not limit the right of any city, county, or city and county to maintain, enact or expand residential rent control.”

One of the morning political talk shows was airing, and the caption showing the issue being discussed read, “Democrats calling for Biden to step down after poor debate performance!”

Observers of the Elk Grove City Council have long asserted many decisions are already made before they appear on the agenda for a public hearing. During the June 26 Elk Grove City Council meeting, city manager Jason Behrmann inadvertently confirmed this long-held belief.

As it has for the last couple of terms, the United States Supreme Court has issued consequential rulings, and this term was no different. We are calling one decision issued earlier this week, the  Small Town Legal Bribery Act.

A few years ago, I saw an early 1970s picture with my siblings and friends, all of us clad in bell-bottom blue jeans. What were we thinking!

Politicians are often skewered for their antics on this podcast. On the occasion when an elected official shows humanity and compassion, that too should be recognized.

This edition of Elk Grove News Minute is is personal. Like most people, I appreciate a good comeback, or in this case, a riches to rags recovery story. I am speaking about my birthplace, and the place where I have not lived for over 40 years but did for my first 23 years.

During the recent Sacramento Zoo hearing, we were reminded no new major zoo has opened in 30 years, and for good reason. But lots of municipal swimming pools have been built.

We want to thank Elk Grove City Councilmembers Kevin Spease and Rod Brewer for their May 8, 2024 deliberation on the recently approved $300 million Sacramento Zoo relocation project. If nothing else, Brewer's remarks exposed the corruption and illegality of how Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and some of her councilmen and are willing to break California law.

Ask any criminal predator who is an easy mark, and almost uniformly they will tell one of the easiest prey is a drunk coming off a bender.  They might not realized for days they got rolled. Hell, even Buck Owns will tell you a drunk is easy prey in a jail! 

In late April 2024, some long time Elk Grove residents were hit with news that struck them like a thunderbolt. That news was that Elk Grove’s oldest event, the Western Festival was canceled. Along with the notable line "You can’t handle the truth," there is another memorable line from the movie A Few Good Men. This week's cancelation of the Western Festival reminds us of that.

Elk Grove, California Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and her city council will not let anything get in their way. This is especially true about public input they don't want to receive.

Not surprisingly Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Sigh-Allen is using her current position as a stepping stone for a higher office. How can she overcome repeatedly disrespecting fellow Democrats?

Since the 2008 founding of Elk Grove News, every year, except for 2020 during the pandemic, we have published an April Fools day story. Over the years, some stories have gone unnoticed, while other generated calls of excitement from Elk Grove officials, and one year a friendly, and we do mean friendly call, from Homeland Security.
