Edgar Andrews’ Onefootinglory Podcast
Old men are often said to have ”one foot in the grave” but those whose trust is wholly in Jesus Christ for time and eternity are not looking forward to the grave but to glory, for the Bible says that to be ”absent from the body” is to be ”present with the Lord”. At the age of 87, therefore, I have chosen this name for my new podcast which will feature videos of talks, comments and lectures about the Bible and science and also Bible expositions.

Christ is in control Video 06.10.2020 48:28
The letter to the church at Smyrna (Rev. 2:8-11) reveals both the sovereignty of Christ and the suffering of the church. We see how Christ's sovereign control of all things is compatible with the tribulation and suffering of His people. This episode will be followed by a final study on this letter which will solve any apparent contradiction by showing that this compatibility arises from the "suffi...

Man rages but Christ reigns (Psalm 2) Video 05.09.2020 48:16
This video expounds Psalm 2 and is a follow-up of the previous message on Psalm 1. Both Psalms are foundational to a proper understanding of Bible theology, Psalm 1 dealing with our personal walk with God and Psalm 2 with God's unfolding purpose for mankind and the reign of Christ. (Video recorded under constraints imposed by Covid-19 restrictions for live church services). In a fallen world, King...
The power of a biblical worldview Video 27.08.2020 17:57
NEW! In our latest episode Edgar Andrews answers the last two questions in the interview conducted by American broadcaster Christopher Sernaque. What makes a biblical worldview superior to other theistic worldview? ANSWER; its self-consistency and power to bring us into a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. In answering the questions, Professor Andrews describes how he hi...
How to know the will of God Video 24.08.2020 43:50
THIS VIDEO This episode is a sermon in which the exhortations of Romans 12:1-2 are expanded and practically applied by a study of Psalm 1. These exhortations are respectively (1) do not be conformed to this world, (2) be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and (3) prove (discover) what is the will of God. But these verses do not explain how we are to accomplish these things in practice. This...
Atheist and theist worldviews and the burden of proof Video 14.08.2020 17:58
THIS VIDEO The third extract from the interview conducted by Christopher Sernaque with Professor Edgar Andrews. The questions addressed in this episode lead to a comparison of the atheist and Christian theist worldviews, and an enquiry as to where the burden of truth lies between the conflicting parties. We apologise that the sound quality is poor in some sections due to technical problems.
The tree of life and what it means for us Video 05.08.2020 26:29
The tree of life. In this sixth episode of our Bible study series "Revelation Revisited" we examine the meaning of Rev, 2:7, where we are introduced to "those who overcome" and to the Tree of Life. What connects these two things? What is symbolized by this tree, what does it mean to us today, and how may we become "overcomers" in the warfare of faith? We find answers to all these questions in this...
RICHARD DAWKINS AND THE ARGUMENTS FOR EVOLUTION Video 25.07.2020 12:01
THIS VIDEO The second in a series of seven extracts from an interview with Professor Andrews conducted by American broadcaster Christopher Sernaque. In this episode the question asked and answered is "What are Richard Dawkins' best arguments for evolution and why do you think they fail?" The question arises from the 1986 Oxford Union "Huxley Memorial Debate" in which Edgar Andrews and Richard Dawk...
The church that lost its love (Rev. 2:1-7) Video 18.07.2020 29:53
THIS VIDEO The church that lost its love (Rev. 2:1-7). At first sight the church at Ephesus was doing well and Christ appears to commend their works of labor, patience and their rejection of evil men and false apostles. And indeed such works are commendable. But, searching the hearts and minds of the Ephesians, the Lord perceives a serious flaw ... their motivation for service is no longer the l...
Is the theory of evolution a modern idol? Video 11.07.2020 12:11
Is the theory of evolution an idol? Addressing the question why the theory of molecules-to-man evolution dominates biological education in the Western world, we suggest that this theory is a 'god-substitute' or idol of modern intellectualism, ultimately attributable to the Fall of Man.
REVELATION REVISITED 4. Rev, 1:9-20 Video 03.07.2020 36:02
Christ and the churches; In this episode from Rev. 1:9-20 we meet two perspectives on the local church, one earthbound and the other heavenly. We examine both, discovering that the local church is precious in the sight of God and it's ministers are held in Christ's right hand. We are challenged to see our own loal chuches as Christ sees them ... imperfect perhaps but precious in God's perception...
REVELATION REVISITED 3 (Rev, 1:9-20) Video 23.06.2020 46:50
In REVELATION REVISITED 3 (Rev. 1:9-20) we encounter the first of the apostle John's visions which although it is a single narrative presents two themes, namely, the glory of Christ and the nature of the churches. In this session we consider the glory of Christ as it is revealed in this first vision. Although I have edited the video to reduce its size (you will notice the interruptions!) the len...
Revelation Revisited episode 2. Rev. 1:4-8 Video 12.06.2020 29:19
Revelation 1:4-8. In this episode we see how John's greeting to the seven churches in Asia begins as a benediction and grows into a doxology focussed on the Person and work of Christ, "who loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood and made us kings and priests to God".
REVELATION REVISITED. rev. 1:1-3 Video 02.06.2020 28:40
Revelation 1:1-3. This is the first study in a new series in which we shall be working through the Bible's Book of Revelation in a lay-person-friendly manner. These studies are unscripted and unedited, so please excuse any glitches that may occur. The artificial background has been chosen because the Book of Revelation can be thought of as a bridge of understanding between earth and heaven. This s...
The second of two lectures on the subject "What is Man?" and related to the book "What is Man? Adam, alien or ape?" Video 25.05.2020 47:51
Is Man the image of God? This lecture explores the biblical statement that Man is made in the image of God, and seeks to show that this implies that God shares certain of His communicable attributes uniquely with Man.
The first of two lectures on the subject "What is Man?" and relating to Professor Andrews' 2018 book "What is Man? Adam, alien or ape?" Video 25.05.2020 24:07
Is Man an accident? Many claim that Man is an accident of cosmology (providing a life-supporting planet), of chemistry (causing the origin of life), and of evolution ( causing Man to arise from a common ancestor shared with the great apes). This lecture offers a brief critique of these ideas and finds them wanting. The lecture is based on the book "What is Man? Adam, alien or ape?"
What to expect from one-foot-in-glory Video 24.05.2020 4:25
UPDATES NEW! The second of our “Revelation Revisited” Bible studies is now on p.3 of this podcast. These studies will work systematically through the Book of Revelation in mainly weekly 30 minute video talks. Look out for the blue color-coded episode logo. There is a new video "Did Adam and Eve exist" on p.3, being a lecture given at the launch of the Dutch edition of my 2018 book "What is Man? Ad...
